The point is that whoever goes after him will have to give up a lot. I just hope it isn't the Yankems, the Jays or the Rays.

I'd be thrilled if any of the AL best teams gave up their future for a 2 month rental.

Reminds me of the joke about someone going ape s*** and bananas, and they both being the same thing.

Lol I don’t think I have heard that.

I just think IF we had a player like Scherzer it would go a long way!

Sale

Nate

E Rod (who is making me eat crow and looking great lately)

Scherzer

Is a ridiculous rotation. That’s World Series caliber. Richards, Pivetta and Perez are not. Simple as that. Pivetta is a good 5th man but it’s nearly a guarantee loss when Richards and Perez go.

The Rays are supposed to be getting back their ace sometime soon. With the Yankems, it probably depends where they are at the trade deadline. Imho, the Jays may be the most interested.

With Springer returning to his old form, one could argue that the Jays' offense is now better than the Astros and the best in MLB. They get a pitcher like Scherzer they would be truly dangerous.

I think the Jays will not push this year. They are still not ready IMO. They have no BP.

I think they will compete until next year.

Good point. Again, like the Yankems, it may depend where they are at the end of July. Obviously, tonight didn't help them.

Negative. Signed a contract for 7 years and played 2015 to 2021. That is 7 years. He is free agent next year

Oh my bad, I asked whether he was going to be FA next year and you answered “nope”

Now I see why.

Said that IMO Scherzer has 2 more years in that tank. Something around 40-50 MUD would lock him down for the next 2 years but I think he will ask for 3 at very least.

A great win indeed. Just what this team needed. Credit to Cora for juggling the lineup and for leaving Pivetta in after the 4 runs in the 4th.

Scherzer, like Nolan Ryan, appears to have a rubber arm. I could definitely picture some team offering him 3 years. But it won't be the SOX.

Oh I see the confusion

Well let’s pay the man and bring him aboard!

A more realistic approach would be to hope that Sale can contribute more than anyone would expect. So far, he appears to be way ahead of schedule.

Yeah, for instance I can easily see the Angels giving him 70-80 M/3Y lol

Maybe the Sox, known for not wanting older pitchers, would rather sign an older pitcher to 3 years than a middle aged one for 6 or 7 years.
