Matt Barnes does not have the ability or the guts to be a closer. he has sucked previously and will again and again

Huh? He's like the MVP of the team this year

If only we had a true lockdown closer like Aroldis chapman

Chapman is the only one I would not rather have than this thrower

Good win in a park that is just not a place most teams would want to play in. I suspect that given a choice, they would prefer the dungeon in Tampa.

Personally, I think we need new fans that don't bitch so much

Stop. Shouldn’t be that difficult to close the game out especially with the bottom of that lineup but whatever. Sawx win!!!!

Ohtani is insane. The fact the Angels have him and trout and still suck is insane

Once trout is back they will be racking. Their pitching sucks though

33 to get 3 outs, total POS

Huh? Sometimes it isn't easy. Seriously, maybe you two need to take up competitive knitting where there is no adversity. It seems you can't handle it.

Absolutely not. But he has been better than any of us expected.

Oh really? He's been a lights out closer all year. I only remember 2 blown losses. Name me one person who could have stepped up in his place and done as well. Maybe Taylor. But still, the guy has over achieved and had won many games in the most of stressful situations. The dude is a star.

Wow what a game today!

Good news today: pivetta threw a monster game! Barnes made it interesting, but we pulled it out.

Bad news today: we could have swept them if not for the andriese turd!

You need to forever and always do this write up on all the games.

That's 2 games this year that we have won 1-0. Based on how our pitching was last year, I would have taken that in a heartbeat at the start of the season.

This was a fantastic win. Well done. Keep it going.

Nope. The Trop is a pit.

He has 4 blown saves. He has definitely been good but since mid may he's been hittable. 3.71 ERA , 6 walks ,and opponents batting 240. That's in his last 17 innings pitched. His control has been shaky lately

Definitely the two worst ballparks in the league. It is a close race for the title of being the worst.

Barnes looked a little tired today. He got away with some very hittable pitches . But , overall he has done a fine job for the Sox this season. He is an All Star , and rightly so. Closing ain't easy. It's a very high stress job. There is a very short list of those who have been able to do it at a high level for any length of time. Matt Barnes deserves a lot of credit . He is one of the reasons the Sox are where they are.

A definite YUP.

I remember how much criticism Kimbrel took because he caused so much drama closing a lot of games. Playing for Boston is not easy and closing for Boston; that's even more stressful.

Could be tired, a good point. And he could be affected by the Commish's dictum. Also strongly agree about the strain and drama of closing games.
