Philosophically, it's games like these, when the lineup is hopeless, that it's not so bad when the bullpen stinks.

 

What does frustrate is that it's the Orioles who came to play--real baseball, not sham baseball--in very cold weather.

One of my best summers ever was living in W. Springfield, MA in 1954 and listening to all the Sox games being called by Curt Gowdy. I had the baseball cards and a lot of imagination, and back then it didn't matter that much that the Sox stunk. Ted Williams was back!

Agree sadly. Only one game but I had my worries about the D on this team. Game 1 has done nothing to make me feel better.

Defense can wax and wane game to game, but it’s way more consistent than hitting or pitching. Devers looks timid. Afraid to range, afraid to throw. Kike had one ball eat him up, so be it. Verdugo’s angles in CF have been off and it cost him on the Galvis “double”.
