Sums up the season though. The Rays got 3 huge breaks (Martinez’s double hopping into the stands, the missed strike three and the catwalk foul pop up) and took advantage of all of them. The Sox couldn’t get a hit with anyone in scoring position.

 

I’ve decided not to lose any sleep over this turd that is the 2020 Red Sox. John Henry’s goal was to cut salary. Congrats John. You succeeded.

Fans on talksox appear to me to have exactly the right expectations--that this team will struggle because of a weak pitching staff. But that doesn't keep us from expressing our frustration with the actual game outcomes.

 

Your reminder is nevertheless a good one. Given the fantastic results of the 2018 season and the return of almost all that talent, expectations were high for last year's team, but not for long because the rotation collapsed and the bullpen couldn't take up the slack. Nor could the hitting.
