So it is official. Rosters will expand to 26 for 2020. At a MLB minimum, this will raise payrolls by about $600K. Something else to factor in for lux tax purposes

I think this will raise payrolls by about $400K.

 

Major league minimum for 2020 is $563,500.

 

But payroll for tax purposes is based on the 40 man roster. That will now include 14 minor leaguers instead of 15.

 

It looks like minor leaguers on the 40 man make about $150,000.
