Cashner....2020?

I believe Cashner has an innings or appearances clause that triggers his contract for 2020. Does anyone know what it is?

 

Also, since he cant possibly be worse than Johnson or Velazquez (both should be gone!), what are the odds that he returns a a 5th starter, or even a BP arm?

Per B-R.com, if Cashner pitches 340 innings between 2018 and 2019, he makes $10mill next season. Currently he has 283.2 IP, leaving 56.1 IP until the clause goes into effect...

It ain't happening, and the Sox will make sure it doesn't, even if it could, which it can't, so it won't, so there.

I think that was a big reason for his move to the pen. If he misses the innings total by a lot, he has no gripe. If he misses it by a little, he’d file a grievance alleging playing time manipulation. His performance made it easy for the Sox to avoid the issue, but they couldn’t risk him finding it and being on the roster for 2020
