One could fill the Grand Canyon with the number of *******s in this country, but I never considered King one. I'd like to name the biggest ******* in this country, but then I would get banned.

Why is that?

The writing is terrific. The general story and setup is great. Having a glimpse into the dog’s psyche?? all terrific. But... I honestly do not remember being this annoyed at a fiction writer. That poor little boy (Tad) dying suffering so much and dying in that manner.. the descriptions were absolutely brutal. It was very difficult to finish. That little boy shouldn’t have to pay for his trashy mother’s sins. I get it.. it’s King’s story, he can do what he wants, not every ending needs to be a happy ending e.g., I love Chinatown’s ending. But the way he described that poor little boy made me mad. Ughhh..

If that book affected you so negatively, you may want to avoid reading PET SEMATARY.

I read a few of his books but what is it with the suffering kids? Jeez. It’s obviously fiction but it’s difficult to stomach. Much more brutal than the movies portray.

Well.. the movie Pet Sematary is fantastic. One of my favorite horror films.

There's all kind of endings for books and movies. There's happy, there's sad, and there's violent. But there was one ending I remember to a TV series that wasn't any of those. This ending would come under the heading of gutless; it was the ending to The Sopranos. I'm not even sure that could be called an ending. Now that one really pissed me off.

Hahaha! Oh absolutely. Talk about just a whole bunch of NOTHING. A few seconds of a black screen. To me it meant that he got whacked right there in that restaurant.. but yeah, that was such a disappointment. Loved the first five seasons. The entire sixth one contained like two decent episodes, the rest being filler.

King sells his books to Hollywood. What they do in translating his novels into movies he has no control over. When Kubrick was making King's novel The Shining into a film, King related to a reporter that Kubrick had called him in the middle of the night and asked King if King believed in ghosts. King replied "of course." Kubrick immediately told King that he didn't and hung up. At that point King new the film would be drastically different than his book.

There were so many calls to cable services because customers thought their cable went out, that many phone lines blew up.

See, I consider The Shining to be the greatest big budget horror film ever made. (Alien, The Thing, The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby among a few other being in the top ten). The best low budget effort being The original Texas ChInsaw Massacre. But if you watch The Shining and fully comprehend what is going on.. it is absolutely mind boggling. There is so much that happens off screen. Kubrick and Nicholson made a heck of a team. King should stick to writing, and directors should stick to films. Simple as that.

I agree. My point was that in the book the OVERLOOK was supposed to haunted. In the movie Jack Nicholson was.

Btw, my favorite big budget horror film is THE EXORCIST, but your list is a good one. You listed ALIEN; I would also include ALIENS.

Yes. Well the Overlook was haunted (I haven’t read the book) but not to the same extent as it was in the book I assume. Those two little twin girls... fast forward... two old women get up in room 237 when Jack goes to investigate. Jack at the bar.. “I’d give anything for a drink. I’d give my goddamn SOUL for just a glass of beer.” Then Lloyd appears, the liquor appears, the ghosts appear. From that moment on.. the Overlook uses Jacks weakness (alcoholism) against him in order to manipulate the hell out of him. Extraordinary stuff.

The ending of The Sopranos was mildly annoying in a Lady or the Tiger sort of way.

But the ending to Tim Burton’s “Planet of the Apes” and the ending to “The Village” were both just flat out stupid. And no series had a worse ending than “Dexter”. None. In fact, I’m not even sure it’s possible...

Agreed on all counts.

Dexter started getting too weird, so I guess the ending fit the direction it was going, but you are right. That ending was as lame as can be.

He was batting .223 before he went on the IL.

Yeah but he was slugging .543 with 13 HRs before he went in the IL so at least the power was there

If the Sox sweep the Angels does that change the outlook for making the playoffs?

Depends on what the teams ahead of the Sox do. That is the problem with not having many games left with the teams you are trying to catch. They could be playing a crap team too and win their game as you win yours.

I think Cleveland is going to take Minnesota especially if Nelson Cruz can not come back for Minnesota. So that will move Cleveland into a Division Champ spot and make Minnesota a target.

I thought Dexter grew a beard and was signed as a reliever by DD.
