Fair point. Maybe comes with age? Regression a bit. But he had his CY YOUNG season followed by a terrible season but was solid last season and now this season about average. He’s a very strange pitcher. Maybe he does drugs.

He is not walking a lot of batters compared to the league, but he is walking the most he ever has at 2.87BB/9IP. His K rate has fallen dramatically as well down to 7.28K/9IP which is the lowest he's had since 2013. The interesting thing there is that with K's way, way up over the last 2-3 years, a drop down that far really shows a big drop in swing and miss stuff and the numbers show it. His swinging strike percentage was never elite, but it is down to the lowest he's had since 2014. He has not been good this year

The HOF vote is typically a vote against peers. I know the counting stats usually need to be there, but we have gotten into worth and value far more to where I doubt lack of wins will keep an elite guy out. I am not worried about the state of the game in terms of competitiveness. It is cyclical. The NL has only 1 team more than 7 games out of the playoff spot. Only 3 teams more than 4 games out. Of those 3 teams, 2 are still trying to win (SF and NYM). The AL right now is in a down cycle with juggernauts and slugs. 5 teams more than 13 games out of a PO spot with the Angels and White sox slipping in the 5.5-6.5 games out range. But the WC race is really competitive with 5 teams within 3 games of each other and only 2 spots available

There is virtually no standard of measurement this generation of pitchers if meeting beyond the very select few that will get in that are pitching now. Innings....absolutely not. K's, yes but there are so many K's now that K's are less consequential than wins and certainly less consequential than innings.

In fact, without Innings, none of these guys are going anywhere. The occasional Closer might get in that is really exceptional. Thats it.

It might not matter...after my generation dies out, who ends up watching this game? 65+ year olds are 5x the viewership of 18-49 year olds. So who is kidding who would be my question for Mr Manfred.

Man you can’t trust porcello in this rotation right now. He’s stinking it up.

Especially since Tigers lineup is about half plasters I look at and think “Who is this guy?” interspersed with the other half that I look at and think “I had no idea he was still playing.”

Wow. f***ing Porcello. Worst team in the league and we were up 7-1. And we may lose. Jesus.

The comeback is on Cora. No way the sox should have stuck with Porcello beyond 5. He knew he was on borrowed time.

Because Cora wasn't watching the same game we all were. I absolutely would have pulled him after 5. He would have been out after 3 against a good team

Also this bullpen is gonna be gassed. Poor bastards

Ya bad Porcello or this bullpen. I’m not sure which is worse. It’s a toss up.
