I think Mookie should have taken whatever the RS were offering him.

I'm sure Boras is advising him but he should have taken the highest offer from the RS.

Why? Because he hasn’t been MVP caliber through 5 games?

The ump missed it and there wasn't enough to overturn it. No luck for the Sox.

I think after the fantastic season the Sox had last year everyone needs to relax and cut them some slack. They will be fine. To quote Kevin Bacon in Animal House, "All is well".

Kevin Bacon?

Yeh Mookie is going to hold out. He is 1 OF 3 hottest commodities in MLB.

Well, he still has bowling if baseball doesn't work out. lol.

Oh course Mookie is going to wait!

We didn't need Boras to tell us that! Hell, f***ing Spungebob Squarepants could have, & if I'm not mistaken, DID tell us that.

Really?

You have hundreds of millions of dollars staring you in the face. From now until he becomes a FA anything can happen.

It's a no brainer dude! Anybody who thinks otherwise needs their noggen shaked.

There is no problem with betting on himself. He can easily make Trout money. He's already a millionaire.

& of course, he should.

I wish the world was not round....

Maybe Kyrie would be playing better.

BUT, the world is round.

Question for everybody on this board.

If you were Mookie Betts right now, would you wait to sign an extension? Be honest. Remember the market is set. Harper signed and Trout signed. Be honest with yourselves.

Anything can happen. You have hundreds of millions of dollars staring you in the face and nobody is going to get a higher contract than Mike Trout.

Yup Scott Boras is a mega millionaire. He has already made his. He has no qualms with Mookie waiting it out. LOL.

Seriously dude?

Now, if the Six Pony up with a 12 yr. / $30 million / yr contract?

Then, the Sox sign him early.

I didn't say he would get higher. Sox offered less than half of what Trout got.

The court has never really defined 'obscenity.' What a lot of these ML players are paid would be a good example of 'obscene.' The blame for this 'obscenity' falls squarely on the owners. Charlie Finley, one-time owner of the A's and probably the smartest owner in baseball, saw the future of the game after the Curt Flood decision and he sold the club.

This. If the Sox offer him a mega extension like Trout got, he'll re-sign. But why the hell would he sign for less than half of what Trout signed?

I don't have a problem with what their paid. It is what it is, if it was easy, everyone would be a pro athlete or a music artist. I'm not in position to say what a player should or shouldn't accept. Its not my life

Mookie is making $20 million this year, he should be set for life regardless. But he knows the type of money he's worth, there is no reason for him to accept a contract for half of what he'd get in the open market. Its not happening.

Dude. I'm agreeing with you.

Which is over 200 mil. Again, he could suffer a career ending injury tomorrow or just flat out fail at dealing with the pressure of trying to secure the moon and everything else that comes with it. Boras has no problem with waiting, he's already a fat cat. Sign the contract, take the pressure off, secure your family for generations to come and take that money and invest it. You can just as easily invest that money and get to a billion dollars as you could with 400 million. Not hard.

Exactly! The players are NOT overpaid.

Yes, its obscene, but THERE ARE SO FEW PEOPLE on this earth capable of doing what Mookie, et al are capable of doing.

It's MARKET VALUE baby. It is what it is. I don'T have to like it to know what it IS.
