Beni can be fixed. Somebody needs to get him in front of some video of his swing. Mookie might be tougher to deal with. This is going to start to get into his head if its not already there. Cora has got to give him some time off as I don't think playing regularly is going to allow Mookie to "hit" his way out of this.

If Benintendi can be fixed, then I wish Cora or his coaches would do it. The rear shoulder dip and bat below the ball as it crosses home are so obvious that it is painful.

I'm willing to bet that at season's end Altuve will be the BA champ. He's just automatic. Betts has played in 110 of 131 games so, imho, I doubt he's tired. He's in a slump, which he will get out off. He's too good a hitter not to.

I believe it's kind of early to call this a collapse. The Yankems are playing the O's and the SOX are not. And Tampa's home field won/loss record reflects that other teams, besides the SOX, are having trouble winning there.

I think the prolonged absence of Chris Sale , 3 starts, 17 innings since the A-S game is catching up to them. Due to scoring, Kimbrel has only pitched one inning in last 8 games. Betts's slump is stopping JDM's rbi opportunities. Beni is a mystery as to how he keeps his average up near .300. Pearce is not hiting with the opportunities he gets. Moreland is more sore kneed now than 3 days ago. Playing the red hot Rays in the Trop doesn't help. Porcello loses two in a row, etc.etc. It's late August and the digs of WAR are out there.

My macro degeneration makes it almost impossible for me toall the comments. I only get the gist of them anyway. So if my thoughts have already been kicked around, well, it can't be helped.

 

Re/Betts, isn't this a bit of de Je Vu from last year/ He certainly tight as a drum, and back to watching strike sail on by. His swing is mor uppercut than it ever was.and his off balance swipes come more frequently than they did, even last year. Make contack, Mookie. f*** the left field wall. Just make contact.

Mookie is just no longer getting around on the baseball. He just isn't. I doubt his vision is failing him from start to this point in the season. There are not a whole lotta' reasons for a guy as quick to the hitting zone as Mookie is to not be getting around on the ball.

 

Good observation in here by somebody that Mookie's swing is not as flat as it is usually. I suspect he is reaching for more power exacerbating his situation. Needs to get his second wind but can probably use some help from Cora in that regard.

 

Its not a new thing for Mookie either. He has been late to the hitting zone for a couple weeks now anyway.
