This is a public service announcement. I just searched preparing for tonight's game and while ESPN has tonight's Sox game (yuk) at least my channel guide is telling me that NESN has the game tonight as well. That was not the case the other night when ESPN had the game. So it appears that if you get NESN where you are, your senses do not have to be accosted by the ridiculously awful ESPN broadcast.

Hope I am right. If not, apologies in advance.

I posted this in the game thread a couple of nights ago. ESPN only has exclusive rights on Sunday nights, so when they broadcast a game on any other night, the local affiliates will still be airing their own broadcasts.

Both NESN and the Detroit feed are being broadcast tonight, in addition to ESPN.

A700 with at the game mojo.

This is the most heralded pitching MLB debut that I have seen since Buchholz (in the day portion of a day/night doubleheader against the Angeles in 2007). My recollection is that in the nightcap that Eric Gagne blew a save in the 8th and was roundly booed. I don’t think he saw another high leverage situation that season. My recollection could be faulty on that. Also in 2007, I saw Dice K’s debut in Fort Myers against BC.

Beni CF

Bogaerts SS

Martinez DH

Moreland 1B

Nunez 2B

Travis LF

Devers 3B

Vazquez DH !!!!!!

Swihart C

That lineup reminds me of the lines from Ghostbusters:

"Real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together . . . mass hysteria!

Will these Sox ever be the same after tonight?

Two DH’s? The pitcher will have to bat.

I almost never have the sound on, so I'm fine with the espn feed because otherwise it's mlb.com on line, which can be sporadic.

Travis will need some practice with that wall.

Was gonna ask if you could tell if Travis could have caught that Castillanos double or if it hit too high off the wall.

It hit too high I think, but I was more paying attention to the carom getting past him.

I think he said something yesterday about balancing his pitches and not relying too much on just one. Right now he is relying on his fastball and so are the Tigers. They love his fast ball. He threw one curved into the dirt and probably won't throw another until sometime next week.

IMO the hardest thing for these guys to get used to is that in the bigs, real mistake pitches just get hit. Even if they are not crushed they get hit.
