The question I have is why in the world Xander flipped the ball to an empty spot that was 3B. Casper the Friendly Ghost must have been covering 3rd and the only person who saw him was Xander.

Nice combo today: ERod stunk, no surprise; bullpen stinks, a surprise: hitting disappeared again; fielding so-so, but still no errors.

He did it because he's used to having a thirdbaseman there and immediately saw his mistake and hustled his butt. Hard for me to gripe about that, but feel free to do so.

Seriously, OB and Jerry would not come right out and say it. But it does look like Cash fully intended to start the game with RHer Kittridge looking to pull him for the LHer after only 2 innings. That hooked Cora into putting his most restrictive lineup offensively on the field and his worse fielding lineup defensively on the field.

 

I am more and more thinking that is exactly how Cash planned it and Cora walked right into it.
