Daring base running by Mookie today, but very smart base running. There wasn't a play made on him in either instance.

 

He just seems to consistently take extra bases and create runs. Its not just speed either, he has great instincts on the bases.

I mean he ran Christian Vazquez too. Oaklands pitcher has a high leg kick and apparently does a bad job of holding runners, I blame Pedroia for that, he got a horrible jump. I like this aggressive base running.

Excellent instincts by Mookie. Unfortunately, Farrell's instincts suck. We would have a nice 1 out rally going here, but Farrell killed it.

As good as Mookie is on the basepaths, Pedroia is the exact opposite.

Run Mookie that is fine. He should always have the green light, but we have some slugs. Running into outs on the bases is not the best way to produce runs.

He does suck offensively, but he's our best option right now - which gives you some idea of how bad our choices are at 3b.

 

IMO - which is admittedly hard to prove - what he brings to the field with his glove is significantly better than our other choices while what he brings with the bat is only a little worse. I mean, if we're going to have someone at 3B who's hitting .200 and plays horrible defense I'd rather have a good glove there hitting .120.

 

I'd be ready for Devers if our 3B offense was our only issue, but it's not.

Moreland is hitting: BA .252 OBP .357. SLG .442

He's a .756 career OPS guy. That doesn't excite me for a first baseman.

Makes sense to me. Watching what was happening at 3rd was infuriating. Now I just expect good D and strikeouts.

This is one of the better games of the year. Good AB's, good base running, good defense and E-Rod has been very solid.
