it's not easy to perfect your mechanics well enough to play competently at the highest level in your sport. Having to perfect them all over again can really mess some people up, and Hanley seems the type. If Farrell wants to take Hanley for what he is rather than trying to make him perfect/risking messing him up, I'm down with that, it's the decision I might have made.

TBH I think a lot of his offensive troubles in the first half centered around learning the position. If he's reached a level teams are comfortable with and transitioned back to perfecting his offense, that's also fine by me.

What 2016 numbers would you like to use? how many Guardians games have you watched?

I've watched 3-4. Not enough to make a definitive judgement. No, I am using what have seen of Nap from the moment he came to Boston and converted to 1st base.

I don't subscribe to fielding metrics. Certainly not without seeing that player play a lot.

I believe Napoli is a better defensive 1st baseman.

The 2013 Napoli was a better defensive 1B than Hanley, but there is no way you can say that about the 2016 Napoli without either having watched both players play nearly every game or looking at the metrics.

That is your opinion only.

My opinion is different. I believe what I see.

By your own admission, you have only seen Napoli play 3-4 games this season. From 3-4 games, you are going to conclude that Napoli is a better defender this year than Hanley is?

I have no doubt that you know your baseball very well, but sorry, that doesn't fly with even the most advanced and best scouts available.

I don't think this team will quite make it to 97 wins, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Either way, if we win the division, it doesn't really matter whether we win 90 games or 100 games.

Early in the year, several of us mentioned how this team reminded us of 2013. Then June came, and all hope was lost for many. Now we're back to making comparisons to 2013. The point is that it's a long season so we should try not to ride the highs or the lows too strongly.

We won't come close to 97 wins more than likely. To do that we need a record of 43-25 (.632 ball) for the rest of the way. Given that a large majority of the remaining games are on the road, including two west coast swings, we will be lucky to make it to 90 wins. Unless Price begins to pitch like Price and Pomeranz is lights out.......and Price hasn't done that all year.

If we had 2013 pitching, this would have been a better team.

Said that, I still believe DD is going to land another SP, and I still believe we are going to win the division.
