Just remember, Owens NEEDS to start 2016 in AAA!

He should be given the opportunity to win a rotation spot in Spring Training. Normally, I would only go with one kid in the rotation, and ER has the upperhand on that spot. Arguably, ER has logged enough innings to be viewed as an experienced starter and not at all a rookie. So, maybe I'd give Owens a shot to win a second spot, but he would have to be lights out. Otherwise, he is the first depth option from the minors. The rotation is overloaded with mediocrity and they need to move some of it. We can't bring back, Buch, Porcello, Miley, and Kelly. At least need to find new roles in the pen or be moved off the team. Two new quality arms are needed.

Rodriguez might not be classified as a "rookie", but he is still a youngster who will likely experience some growing pains next season. Depending on both Rodriguez and Owens in the rotation from the beginning of the season would be a big mistake, IMO.

I agree with this. Imo, Owens should get a spot only if he dominates in Spring Training or ER gets injured.
