Our unexpected ace goes up against Alfredo "Mr. Groin" Simon.

They have identical ERAs of 4.55, as Thunder pointed out yesterday.

Simon has the weight advantage over Miley, 265 to 220, which means that we will this game.

Go Sox!!!

I love Holt, but until he breaks out of his funk, if that's what it is, he needs to be moved down in the order. He has no business leading off right now.

I like Holt, but last year, and again this year, his post ASG production wanes. He simply is not an everyday player, talented, versatile, not everyday. This kiss-ass media makes a big deal of him. Go back a while and

look at Billy Goodman. Played seven positions, and threw in a batting title for the hell of it. Holt is no Goodman

OMG We noe have uniforms in Spanish? What the f----k is the fascination with espagnol? After the season is over, they take their Amercano pesos and go back to some third world country . They made more money than the GNP of some countries

Well, he is a big deal. What he is able to do, switching positions so seamlessly, is no small feat. That said, he does seem to have a tendency to fade the 2nd half. His first half BABIP made it rather evident that he would not sustain his batting numbers through the rest of the year.

Almost hot dogged his way into an out at 2nd. When will he ever learn a little hustle? How dare that ball stay in the park?

I'm sorry, dear, but I can't agree that it a "big" deal. Agents make a big deal of things to hype their clients. A "Save" is one of the phoniest statistics ever. A "quality" start? A "productive" out?

Gimme a f-----g break!!!

You gotta take the bad with the good. There are plenty of guys who suck that can hustle. Not many guys can smoke a ball like he can.

The press roasted Ted Williams for lack of hustle. Yaz got blasted by his mgr. Ortiz is between those two

Thats the problem of those who complain about certain great players lacking hustle. I personally think it's stupid to knock any great ball player for a lack of hustle. I would rather them hustle, but if they are performing well I don't find it a big deal at all if they don't hustle.

I pay my money to see the Red Sox WIN. If somebody hits a homer, that is icing on the cake, but for the money, I expect a decent effort by ALL players.

He's giving you a great effort where it matters most. At the plate.

I somehwat agree with you. However, Williams, Yaz, Rose, Ichiro, etc play in the field. This guy bats 3 or 4 times a game. Williams was hurt playing LF in an All Star game, making an effort. No effort whatsoever is NOT acceptable

I see what you are saying and I know a number of people are on your side. I just don't find it a big deal. He has put a tremendous amount of effort into becoming a great hitter just like many of the other greats of the game. Being a great hitter is way more important than hustling on the base paths in my eyes. Because of his hitting ability and all he has done for the sox, I don't fiind it a big deal if he lacks hustle, but I can see why some people would have a problem with a ball player making millions of dollars not hustling consistently on the base paths.

Question: Do you think Ortiz would be as good as he is if he got knocked down a few times? Some pitchers injected fear into the hitter. That doesn't happen anymore.

I don't deeny what he's done. I fell that on many occasions this season, a single would have been just as, if not more, crucial than a home. run. He has made little or no attempt to go against the shift, and as a leader of this tem, I feel he has a negative influence

An example of my earlier post----just need a single here. Homer would be great but one or two runs is more than no runs
