Gomes starting against a RHP. Why JF do you want me to hate you?

 

You know Farrell ran a damn good game in the opener. He pinched hit for Drew and got a hit from Gomes, pinched hit for Bradley and got a game winner from Herrera. That took some guts because Drew had a homer and Jackie had two hits. So to me he showed some real balls from the dugout. The second game win? Not so much where Gomes was concerned. The guy just has one problem after another with righties and probably should have been kept on the pine until a pinch hitting duty against a left came up in a tight situation, but I guess Farrell wanted to reward him for a come through hit in the first game. Aside from that I have no more clue than you do as to why Gomes was in that lineup tonight.

 

Well Bellhorn supplies the answer. Gomes was 7 for 18 against Jiminez going into this game with three dongs. I guess that's a good reason but we could have used a much better game from Lackey tonight, not to mention getting more than a half-dozen hits.

Yep this was a good summary, I was at this game. Looked good when Drew hit the HR but Lackey had a strange outing. Lots of K's (11 in just 5.1 IP), lots of hits.
