Peavy was a win-now move. It will probably bite them later, but he earned them the AL East, and home field advantage and won a crucial game 4 against Tampa that setup the rotation for the Tigers series. Peavy isn't quite Beckett + Lowell, but Iggy isn't Hanley either.

 

I agree ... also the Sox were suspect of his hitting and with Bogaerts he was expendable. Bogaerts wants to play SS ... that is where he is most comfortable ... similar to when Hanley was moved to 3rd when Reyes arrived. Hanley lost his mojo.

This. Iggy this year was a perfect example of a sell high situation. He's OPS'd under .700 with Detroit and while it's acceptable for a great defensive SS, if you can trade a guy like that for somebody like Jake Peavy, you do it. Especially when you have Xander Bogaerts, a top 5 prospect, waiting in the wings.

I just don't understand why people get so hard over igelsias, the guy had one ridiculous lucky good month this season. His D is good, but a player like Drew that plays great defense and can hit for some power and get on base is far more valuable IMO.
