RED SOX (33-23)

Nava LF

Carp RF

Pedroia 2B

Ortiz DH

Napoli 1B

Drew SS

Saltalamacchia C

Iglesias 3B

Bradley Jr. CF

Pitching: LHP Felix Doubront (3-2, 5.29).

YANKEES (31-23)

TBA

Pitching: RHP Phil Hughes (2-3, 4.97)

Is it just me, or does our lineup look pretty weak? Books have the Red Sox at even money, the Yankees at -110. Virtual coin flip. Doubront has had some success against the Yankees, whereas Hughes has a below average ERA against the Sox.

I'm going with the Sox. 5-4.

Ill second that prediction. Sox hopefully will take it tonight in a close game. Hopefully they have a bit more urgency to beat the Yanks tonight. Would be nice to seperate ourselves from the Yanks a bit.

YANKEES (31-23)

Gardner CF

Youkilis DH

Cano 2B

Teixeira 1B

Wells LF

Nix SS

Adams 3B

Suzuki RF

Stewart C

Pitching: RHP Phil Hughes (2-3, 4.97)

Game time: 7:15 p.m.

TV/Radio: FOX / WEEI.

Red Sox vs. Hughes: Pedroia 6-24, Ortiz 9-20 (5 extra-base hits), Ellsbury 6-16, Salty 2-13, Nava 1-10, Carp 4-8, Ciriaco 4-9, Napoli 3-7, Gomes 0-3, Ross 1-2.

Yankees vs. Doubront: Cano 0-11, Teixeira 2-9, Nix 0-5, Suzuki 1-5, Youkilis 1-3, Gardner 0-2, Hafner 1-2, Overbay 0-1, Romine 0-1, Wells 1-1.

Stat of the Day: Red Sox reserve infielder Pedro Ciriaco has hit .415 (22 of 53) in 14 games against the Yankees since joining the Red Sox with a .436 on-base percentage, a .566 slugging percentage, seven RBIs and 12 runs scored. In 85 games against other teams, Ciriaco is hitting .258 (65 of 252) with a .291 on-base percentage, a .353 slugging percentage, 16 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Stat of the Day II: Red Sox pitchers have 504 strikeouts, second in the major leagues. Red Sox batters have struck out 467 times, third in the major leagues. Red Sox batters have 2,157 plate appearances this season and their pitchers have faced 2,107 batters. So 971 of the 4,264 plate appearances involving the Red Sox this season have resulted in a strikeout. That's just under 23 percent.

Notes: The Red Sox and Yankees have split four games this season, all played at the big stadium in the Bronx. ... Doubront has allowed six earned runs over 17 innings in his last three starts, dropping his ERA from 6.40 to 5.29. He is 1-1, 2.73 in eight career appearances against the Yankees, four of them starts. ... Hughes is 5-6, 4.95 in 20 career appearances against the Sox. But he was 3-1, 2.03 in four starts last season. Hughes didn't get out of the first inning against Seattle on May 15. He allowed three earned runs over 13 innings in the two starts that followed. ... Iglesias has reached safely in 13 of the 14 games he has played this season. ... If Ellsbury does not play, it would be the 240th game he has missed since the start of the 2010 season. That would be 44 percent of the games played. ... The Sox have dropped four of their last six road games.

Jeesus will Doubront ever learn to pitch economically?

No. He never will. His stuff is good enough to get ahead and not good enough to put away. Which means he's going to get fouled off a ton.

I hope Doubrount is thinking to pitch around the Yankees first four hitters, and pitch to the bottom of the lineup.
