Honestly, just on watching the game I'd think we should be losing by a lot more than we are. I think the first game in the series was similar. We should have lost them both by more than 2 runs.

Only 3-1 at this point is a win for us.

Too bad more managers don't own race horses. If they did, they would know about peaks and valleys of an athletes performance. When a horse declines in performance, he is telling everybody it's time for a rest. So the trainer turns him out for a few weeks. The horse comes back and wins a few races--then trails off--time for another rest. It's called conditioning.

Ballplayers are like race horses. When they slump, it means they are tired--physically, mentally. Turn 'em out a few games. Freshen 'em up. Unlike horses, ballplayers can talk. But they aren't going to tell the manager--hey I need a rest. The manager has to know.

So should Farrell rest the entire offense and call up the AAA lineup to play a few games? Because it's a team-wide slump.

Excellent point.

Yea when I referred to Farrell's patience, I meant with the lineup. We don't have an option in some cases. I don't really think we have somebody that can protect Ortiz other than Naps for example. He either does it or it does not get done. However, Ells has got to come off the top of the lineup. If we get to the next stop in this trip and Ells is still at the top my head is going to explode.

Guys that have not done badly have just grown grey sitting on the bench while the crew that goes out there day after day has just not produced consistently. Ells needs to move...Salty needs to sit for two things.

Pull the lineup out of a hat. Ortiz leading off....

Boras must be pulling his hair out. What a year for Ells to completely s*** the bed.

By the way...I am not claiming that line up change will be a sure fire cure. But it does not look like the current lineup has any chance of improving. Ells is in serious trouble, Salty is well Salty. Not sure what to think with regard to Naps. I would rest him a game or so every once in awhile though. He looks to me to me to be swinging a tired bat. Gomes has been doing very little.
