He has a guaranteed spot in the Red Sox hall of fame. No reason to burn too many bridges.

According to Francona, and I believe him, what's come out so far is only a few negative or controversial things (or maybe 'sexy' things would be appropriate under the circumstances) and that the book is full of positive stuff about his time with the Sox.

 

I think this is pretty much all it is. Generate hype about a book on baseball. Most people think baseball is boring, due to not understanding the game. Try to play the book up as a big "expose" on the Red Sox and generate interest/sales. I seriously do not think someone like Tito wants to appear to be a rat that sings about all the bad that an organization has. It makes him look bad, and no owner would want that to be a part of their team. To me the book will be much ado about nothing.

Well then based on what Theo is saying now he would have to change the comments he made when he first hit Chicago to "I felt pressure from the media consultants" to do thus and so cause what he is now saying the media consultants were responsible for is the exact stuff that he claimed came at him as pressure from above. In fact, Theo said it with such conviction that LL felt compelled at the time to defend himself and ownership AND did so publicly.

 

More lying ********. Staggering how much these guys just want you to forget what they said...sure sign of a bunch of ******** is when they forget the last bunch of ******** they slung in your direction. Nobody ever has to remember the truth because it is the truth.

I don't think many fans realize it's a media game these days--a TV game. That's where all those millions come from that keeps everybody in gold. The media sets the scheduling, and may even have encouraged those 75 HR seasons. It loves whatever increases ratings--and advertising dollars.

 

Somebody said the bottom line in TV ratings is winning. I believe that. No amount of $20 million stars will get you TV ratings unless you win. They will eat up your piggy bank, but they don't guarantee wins. Henry, like most other owners, had to learn that the hard way. His hedge funds haven't done that well, either, lately.
