Nicely done. Completely ignore any aging and injury related problems.

Everyone will bounce back.

Jeter's broken ankle won't be a problem (See: Stephen Drew).

Pettitte is going to be in his 40's. Counting on more than 20 starts from him is ignorant. He hasn't made 22 starts since 2009. It's going to be 2013.

Youkilis has been horrid since July, 2011. If the Sox had Youkilis, and we were counting on him, you'd shoot holes through the theory.

Gardner will be a nice addition, but Ichiro is not an everyday player anymore (.670 OPS over the past 2 seasons) I don't care if he's at YS or not, he's going to be average, at best. Counting on more is ridiculous.

Mo just completely blew out his knee. He's going to be 43 years old next year. He's a massive, massive question mark.

CC - Kuroda should be great, but you can't just ignore CC's surgery. Hughes is as volatile as they come. I have already addressed Pettitte. Phelps likely isn't going to strand 82.5% again and have a .258 BABIP. His 4.32 FIP is much more indicative of what you can expect from him than his 3.34 ERA.

The Yankees have as many or more question marks than anyone in the East.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is not the year for the Yanks. And I'll be willing to put a sig bet on the fact that the Sox end the year ahead of the Yanks.

Forsyth, stop being so realistic, it's not allowed on this forum.

My deepest apologies.

How you been man? Been a while. Busy?

Working almost full time and going to college full time doesn't really work to well for free time. Luckily I have an iphone and I'm able to post during lunch breaks or class breaks. I just finished my first semester at college today and just now getting out of work. Will be going to Colombia on Saturday for 2 weeks to visit family. So I'll be gone for a little while. I see you playing the show a lot on ps3 haha.

The Yankees team is beatable, we get some pitching and we can most definitely keep up with them. I'm very excited for the season already, as long as the Sox don't get wrecked by all of MLB and become the laughing stock, of course.

Done.

You're significantly underestimating Lester and Buchholz, and the impact that Farrell will have on them.

Bold statement.

I think Farrell will have a bigger impact on a guy like Doubront in his development (as he did with Lester and Buchholz as they went through their early years). At this point, I feel Farrell will play a more minor role in Lester and Buchholz bouncing back - but I feel both will bounce back next season, assuming health. Lester will simply have to regress back to his career averages and peripherals due to better luck on things like BABIP. Buch will be a full season beyond his 2011 back ailments and will have to be more consistent from start to finish.

From my perspective, the Red Sox have the biggest number of question marks isolated in one area of the team (rotation) whereas the Yankees have less pressing question marks that are spread over all areas of their team. Say what you want about the mediocrity and cost of the FA position players, but the Red Sox position players as a group appear to be much less volatile than the Yankees current group of position players. Same thing with the bullpen, particularly when you consider how Soriano stepped up last year when Mo was lost for the year. Even if Mo comes back and is vintage Mo again, I still like the depth the Sox have in the middle and set up relief better than what the Yankees can throw out there.

Yanks

Jays (no playoffs)

O's

Rays

Sox (think the bottom 3 will be within a few games of each other at 77-83 wins)

That means you think Rangers and A's will be playoff teams?

It means I think the 2 WC teams come from the ALW and/or ALC.

I'm not sold on the Jays. Not sure they win 90 games. There's a better chance Johnson and Reyes get injured and Dickey turns the clock back to 2009.
