With all that has happened in the past 12 hours or so with trade talks it made think of what it all means for top prospect Xander Bogaerts. Question is when he will finally see Fenway?

He'll stick at SS until he grows out of the position. I have the feeling that he probably winds up in LF, and make his debut sometime around July. He's tearing up AA ball as 19 year old, so he can't be too far from Fenway.

With everyone saying he'll be switched to another position, what about 1B? It can be done if he dedicates himself to learning the trade. He's a legit 6'3 so he has the height/wingspan to play there. Just an idea maybe to ponder on, but when it's all said and done I see him in LF as well. Bradley will either be RF or CF depending on what happens with Ellsbury

Why? He might stick at SS, and has the athleticism to play LF or 3B. I don't like putting players like that at the least challenging defensive position.

3B? I don't really see that with Middlebrooks there in the future. As of now they do have the space for him in OF, so it's definitely a strong possibility and probably the most likely destination for him. I agree that he could play SS at the major league level. Iggy deserves a chance though at the major league level. If he doesn't pan out there then we know where we stand. Then it's pretty much Xanders position unless he shows he can't cover the ground

The Sox could roll the dice and just hopes that he develops into a genuine SS. I mean, I realize that scouts say he can't stick and that's the general consensus... but he's a guy who is now playing SS, at 19 y.o., for AA Portland. He's not a bumbling defensive fool, obviously, if they have kept him there.

There is very little more valuable than a power-hitting SS who can play the position. I suspect he won't have any lack for groundball practice, so his transition to 3B or wherever can be handled later.

I'd love to see him stick it out at SS. I'm way higher on him than Iggy. Yes Iggy has the glove but I'll take a bat over a glove any day. It's like you said its not like he's horrible so why not dangle Iggy out there?

Does Bogaerts lose value if he is moved from short? I know defense is important at SS, but to have a great bat out of that position would be great. Is he projecting to be worse then Aviles with the defense. When haven't had someone like this in the system at SS since Nomar.

He definitely would lose value if he moved to first, but that's a long shot at this point. IMO I don't think he would lose alot of value if he ended up in the OF, but a power hitting SS is hard to come by these days, so SS would keep his value the highest
