Jerry was commenting that he thought it was a missed sign by Salty.

I don't remember who said it originally: "Humans managed to communicate exact orders to flying robots on mars, but we still haven't figured how to transport a simple sign all the way from the third base coach box to the runner on first"

If WMB is going to continue to insist on swinging at the low and away, someone is going to have to teach him to stop trying to pull it. He looks more and more like a bullfighter giving that pitch the Ole' with the bat standing in for the sword and cape.

Pedey....really starting to get that pop back in his bat

I hope we are all watching how difficult it is to work in a running game when your speedsters are 1-2 in the order. You just do not want to take the bat out of the hands of your 3 hitter in the lineup. The hit and run takes the bat out of his hands although the run and hit does not.

When you have a RH hitter and the green monster to shoot at you really don't like the idea of taking a possible run off the base paths via caught stealing unless it is late in the game and you happen to be playing for one run.

More Ole' from WMB on the low and away.

Just to be clear, Roy Oswalt 1. Already has hit the DL with back problems, and 2. has a 6.49 ERA on the year, including 8 ER in 5.1 IP tonight.

Glad we didn't get him.

If we would've signed Oswalt the fans would rip the FO a new ******* (Even though that at the time they would have sold their grandmother to give him his demands).

Ain't that the truth...those kinds of back issues are an absolute red flag. He may not be right enough to pitch again in the regular season.

Why do so many people act like he was the only pitcher who changed teams this off season. He was just the last one available, and now we know why. Many others changed teams that would have upgraded our rotation.

I'm not acting like that, I'm just saying I'm glad we didn't get him. I was almost certain that as soon as we trade Scutaro, we would go get Oswalt.

I'm just saying I'm glad we didn't get him. I would have liked to have gotten Edwin Jackson, but I don't think he would have signed a pillow contract in the AL East, so I can't blame the Sox there. I didn't want Buehrle, I think a soft throwing LHP would get crushed here myself.

And to be honest, if Lester and Beckett weren't underperforming to an infinite degree, this team would be in much better shape. That's something that you can't predict, and you certainly can't make offseason moves based on the presumption that your pitchers are just going to randomly tank.

I don't know, I would have liked to have had 1 more SP, especially since we were going into the season with 2 rookies, but the bigger problem is just underperformance of the SP.

I don't think Oswalt is getting attention because he was he last of the pitchers out there as much as some folks really wanted Oswalt with others totally rejecting the notion as soon as the nature of his back injury was better understood. Some folks thought the back issue should not prevent a deal from happening and others vigorously disagreed.

There were without question other options in the offseason. The only discussions I remember about Oswalt were discussions about whether Oswalt was an option at all regardless of his being the last guy out there. Should have done something to mitigate the starting pitching issues long before Oswalt was the last guy standing or maybe laying down is more appropriate.:D:D

Well whether the warning signs were there regarding Lester and Beckett is a whole different discussion. Some thought they were...others didn't. or I guess maybe don't is more to the point.
