I could have this wrong but I think Ciriaco initially played more SS and then more recently played much more 2nd base in the minors.

Well that is interesting...Sox have both of their speedsters on at different times in the inning...put nothing on...not a steal, not a hit and run, not a run and hit, not an anything and eventually ground into a DP.

Really have to wonder why we are enamored with getting speed back in the lineup with the exception of going from 1st to 3rd on hits or making it home on hits. That is really what I thought would be the case with these Sox and the way they traditionally handle speed.

Apparently according to a discussion between Buckley and Pedey subsequently ending up in a piece by Buckley Pedey discussed with Ells and Crawford the need to look at more pitches especially if Crawford wanted to bat second and Ells was going to bat first. He wanted them setting the tone, driving up pitch count and getting a look at more pitches in order to get better pitches to hit.

As you might have guessed there was some huffing and snorting about Pedey "going to the media" to relate the discussion although as Buckley points out he had actually asked Pedey about the discussion I guess having originally gotten the information elsewhere and Pedey confirmed that he did in fact have the discussion with both players. I was just walking back in the room as Ells was hitting what had to be the first pitch of the game into an out promptly followed by Crawford who I saw step into the box, swing at the first pitch and promptly ground into an out.

Where's the friggin' manager in all this?

The TV pundits have mysteriously stopped talking about the Red Sox, perhaps because of their serious internal problems which have become so obvious lately.

Maybe the FO has told Valentine "we don't do those things on the Red Sox. "

DP.....looks smoother between Pedey and Ciriaco in a matter of weeks than it has with Pedey and Aviles all year.

Was Ciriaco generally a 2nd baseman in his minor league career?

He played a lot of shortstop too if I remember correctly. I think he's a shortstop originally.

I guess I would not have expected V to comment. However then came that first inning just now when it went bing-bang-bong, two outs and I really had to wonder.

Hope Felix settles a little here. Just cannot walk these guys in this band box. Before you know it you have given up 3 runs on 1 hit.

Yuk...i would like to see how Ross fairs without seeing anything on the inner third. Wish ESPN replayed more of the plays in the field.

Even if this 3rd game slows up, I am thinking that in time this will turn out to be the fastest pace for three straight Red Sox - Yankee games I have seen in a bit

I sometimes wonder if the ESPN TV knuckleheads are even more oblivious than Buck and McCarvedup.

Oh man this is going to catch up to Felix big time...you just don't so this in this ball park. All it takes is a walk and a dinger and the game is tied.

Well if Felix can sneak past the 5th that should be all for him tonight because his control is not getting better tonight. His arm slot and motion have been all over the place all night long and he won't survive without giving up runs doing this. If he gets out of the 5th I would be happy with that.

What makes you say that?

The problems with Beckett and Lester this year have not been anything like as "mysterious" as they are making them out to be....not even close. It sucks but it is not some big mystery.

How come every time we get a good performance from a starter we can't hang a bunch of runs on the board? We don't win too many games with only two runs.
