That was a bad pitch to Crawford. Clearly only wanted to show him that inside pitch and got to much plate. LH pitchers are starting to go right back to what worked on Crawford last year....new stance and all.

Imagine, a $20 million dollar guy batting 7th! You'd think they would deal him for practically anybody in a heartbeat, but that would make Cherington & Co, who signed him, look bad. I still have a hard time believing Henry won't unload his contract at the first opportunity--regardless of what the front office thinks.

I mentioned in another thread that Larry Bowa and Mitch Williams both said tonite on MLB TV that the best team for Hanley R. is the Red Sox, because they have veterans like Papi and Ross who can turn him around. They said the lack of veterans in Miami has hurt his development. I hope Lucchino/Henry were listening.

Aviles is well beyond hideous at this point.

Go get HanRam, please.

Joking, kind of. I'd be curious to see if HanRam would shape up in a new clubhouse where he's not king and he's got mentors like Ortiz. Not to mention put him in a bandbox, I think he'd crush at Fenway myself.

I just don't understand how this team can play so consistently poorly. You would think they would look at these games and realize that their performance as a team is incredibly substandard.

Pedey gets into a post game presser last night and says "none of the guys in here like to lose." Well then do something about it. When does it finally dawn on somebody that the same approach every game is simply not working.

The pitching sucks. The team is down 4 runs before the 3rd inning game after game. It affects the morale of the hitters.

Mike Aviles simply never learned how to take balls the other way. In fact he would be better served trying to foul it off and see if he can work a walk or a ball in the inner half from the pitcher. He simply has no ability to take the ball to right field. That was actually a cookie to a RH batter for going to RF.

The mentor bit with Papi is what Bowa and Mitch Williams were saying tonite. They think Hanley could rebound in Boston.

And lets be honest, it's not exactly hard to hit a ball out of RF in Arlington.

I think just the fact that LF goes from 344 in Miami to 310 in Boston would make a huge difference.

I realize they are often in a hole before they get their first bats but that they have hit just like this from day one of the season....just exactly like this. It's ridiculous. Figure out what you are as a hitter and adapt to what the pitchers are trying to do to you. If not you are a fail when timely hitting is required. Instead when timely hitting is required the Sox are like a bunch of puppets at the end of a string

Jung - Timely hitting is always required, that's the biggest thing. Getting 2 out RBI, getting gap shots with 1 out and a man on 1st, etc. Timely hits are what makes teams good.

EDIT: Nevermind - Misread your first post. I thought you were saying if you adapt you don't need timely hitting.

Well that is what I mean....they hardly ever get timely hitting. They get occasional timely hitting which in part is why they get big innings or nothing....that combined with being a total fail at moving runners up into scoring position makes it very difficult for this team to score consistently throughout a game. They get a big inning and are for the most part done.

It was 3-0 and I knew it was still going to be a popout:lol:
