Lester keeps getting worse. They don't have a clue how to deal with him.

He looks overweight to me. So does Beckett. They both look like they've gained some lbs, and we know what that did to Papi.

Wow. They screwed up Bard. God knows what they'll do to Lester. They won't dare to run him out there again.

Melcanon sucks ass.
His ERA is 7.65. How many times this season has this guy failed to complete an inning of work? Do we really need to see more of this guy to realize that Benny got taken on this trade. Cut this f***ing guy. He's worthless.

I would say that Lester needs to go down to Pawtucket to figure his s*** out, but I was saying that same thing about Buchholz, and then he completely turned it around. So I just don't know what the hell to think anymore.

The only thing I can say for sure is that for the rest of this season, I'm going to be cruising without any expectations at all. I would go as far as to say that I'm one of the most optimistic Red Sox fans that I know, I try to always see the best in every situation. That the Sox have even tempered my expectations and have made me no longer excited about this team is very telling about how poor and frustrating their play has become.

People were saying that Lester was not a 4.30 ERA pitcher. It seems that he is a 5.46 ERA pitcher. His ERA at Fenway is 7+. He has taken on the mantle of Lackey, but without the wins. He needs to go to the pen. They can't keep trotting him to the mound to give away games. He needs to get stuff figure out in the pen.

It speaks volumes.

I was where you are right now a while back. But I look at it this way. This team has the best farm it has had in several years. It has a pile of trade sell-high players on its roster now, and could reload in a very big way for next year. Lester and Buchholz have had bad seasons but you know what? They can very easily still be ace pitchers.

Get rid of Beckett, and this team can afford a new arm next year-- Dicek, Jenks, Youk's contracts are all off the books. Ortiz is either gone, or gets an arbitration paycut. Peeling off Beckett opens a ton of space, and trading away middle pieces can earn this team the best farm in baseball, plus money to spend, and lots of core pieces still in tact.

Does anyone remember who was suggesting we keep Melancon and cut Aitchson? I'd like to reiterate my stance on that to them' date=' except with more middle fingers.[/quote']Aren't you glad that we didn't take advantage of your hormone induced euphoria by taking you up on your sig bet?

Oh, it was SCM33. Okay dude, I take back the middle fingers.

But still, Atchison has proven he can be invaluable in long relief. Melancon just sucks.

Dude, the first time was so good I'm pretty sure I would have agreed to almost anything. Emily is amazing in every way. But yeah I let the combination of love and lust go to my head and let it seep as optimism into my view of the Sox. I still think it's possible though. I will never give up on this team. I always believe they have a shot.

You must still be quivering from the orgasms if you think we can catch the Yankees:lol: Yes we can still get a wildcard, but forget about the Yankees.

I'm still shaky, that's for sure, but I also still love the Sox and I can still see the good in this team. I just wish I knew what the hell was wrong with Lester. Beckett has always been like this. Weirdly streaky. It's been obvious he has already passed his peak, which was likely the 2007 season. I accept what he is now and I think he can still be serviceable if he pulls it together enough. But Lester...I don't get it. It's like he's a completely different pitcher from the one we saw in 08-most of 2011. It's scary.

i am calling it quits this season... the season is officially over for me..if they cant beat bluejays who are without bautista and lawrie.. i dont think they can beat anyone who isnt TB or Whitesox

We should have offered Billy Beane even more money.

Now based on that sweep what does the trade deadline look like for the Sox? Cherry does nothing is my guess

While we often hear the wiin-loss record for games Lester or Beckett start, WEEI had some interesting numbers for the month of July. Lester and Beclett have apparently given up 52 hits and 35 earned runs between them for the month of July. Those are staggering numbers. I think the won-lost for the season is 13-25.

this is why we should sell. if we can't win with our aces on the mound, how can we win a championship?

After giving up a home run to make it 9-3' date=' Lester was bitching at the ump on 1-1 pitch. [b']he's completely f***ed in the head at this point[/b].

Unfortunately, this is true.

BTW, we are the worst team in the ALE, today. Thanks Theo.

Before the season started, we knew that this team was thin in the pitching department and that everything would have to go right to compete with the Yankees. We also acknowledged that the lack of pitching depth could result in the unraveling of the 2012 Red Sox, but speaking for myself, I didn't expect them to be so consistently horrible from opening day until the trading deadline.
