“that's really not the way we go about our stuff here. I'm sure he'll figure that out soon”.

This quote is going to live for a long time, i think. To anyone objective, and i know we fans are not always so, this is the kind of comment that comes from a club with that strange culture known as “country club", where there are cliques and politics, and if players dont get there way, they lay down. not watching a lot of baseball this year, i couldn't help but notice as the first game on saturday was being played, how pedroia and ortiz and a couple of others were sort of huddled at one end of the dugout, having a very quiet conversation. no one goes near bobby during the game. ever. what valentine said was a clumsy attempt at motivation. what pedroia did was far worse. is the way that the leaders handle their stuff in boston to do exactly what they say they dont do? he did the same thing bobby v did. if he didnt know what bobby was doing, why didnt he ask, instead of speaking for the players in the media and making it an us against him situation. if that is leadership, it is bad leadership; not to mention telling the manager what he can do and not do and how he will do it. the country club never left the red sox, but the players that won the world series' did. what is left are injured, some over the hill, some green, and some mediocre. back to the future.

I think he is new here and just put it in the wrong place. Maybe the mods can move it. Can you do that here?

I'm not a mod here haha.

I see. So thats why you can afford to be so damn negative and not worry about having to be impartial here....:D

Quote doesn't bother me. Isn't there at least a SMALL chance that Valentine's comments were actually out of line? Don't let the relative shittiness of the current Sox team cloud your view. Most teams and most players wouldn't sit well with a new manager openly questioning the desire and focus of an established team leader who has 2 WS rings. Pedroia said what was on his mind, it wasn't in prepared remarks, but it was heartfelt and, frankly, watching him defend Youkilis was refreshing.

At the time people were chalking it up to Bobby V potentially trying to build team unity by using some reverse psychology to piss the players off and have them unite together. All talk of V being some sort of group dynamics mastermind have gone out the window. It appears that he is just as over his head with this group as Tito was. I hope I'm wrong.

I think Bobby Valentine's observation was correct. When Kevin was in Boston his head wasn't in the game. Now he's in the right mindset in Chicago and he is hitting like he used to hit.

Im not negative. I am realistic. The Redsox winning or losing has zero effect on my personal life. I call it as I see it. If they suck, I say they suck and try to figure out the reasons. When they were good, I praised them. I'm not an apologist.

How about this. Manager out of line or not' date=' that gets handled internally. Public insubordination is a problem[/quote']

This is how I feel about it. Public BS should be last resort.

It was a joke. I think you are actually pretty dead on with most of what you write here.

Pedroia's comment was certainly public insubordination. He was out of line.

BV and Pedroia's comments were both unnecessary and out of line.

Looking back at it, probably so.
