I am gonna look up some stats to prove that Clay doesn't in fact suck' date=' in fact I am close to proving that he is the leading Cy Young candidate.[/quote']

I'm very sorry that you 1. Don't understand statistics and 2. Are too lazy/dumb to learn about them.

That must suck.

Geez call it a mediocre outing. Who gives a s*** for Gods sake. Buch has been up and in the middle of the plate all night long. Probably lucky he has not been hit harder. However he is not getting hammered either....at least I don't think so.

He had over 340 innings of sub 3.30 ERA baseball coming into this season.

Explain that, please.

His ERA coming into this game was 3.91; its probably nearing 4 now. In my book thats not very good; its mediocre. Furthermore, he has had ONLY ONE FULL SEASON of proving his worth as a SP, and even then he threw only 173 innings that year. He has potential, but has not proven he is a reliable SP yet. He keeps getting that deer in the headlights look.

I think on an average night, this is a 6-7 IP, 3-4 ER game. Not great by any standards, but better than he's been.

And that year' date=' he was second in the league in ERA, and led the majors in adjusted ERA.[/quote']

Thats great. One good year. Does that mean that he is a good reliable pitcher? Not for me.

Good sac bunt by Pedroia. Good sac fly by Gonzalez to score Aviles. Great fundamental baseball.

A bit hard to understand so early in the game, isn't it?

Good? yes. Great? yes. Potential to be the best in the major leagues? Yes. Reliable? Absolutely not.

I understand them, I just don't give half a f***. I watch baseball in the present day. I couldn't care how many gold glove third basemen have eaten eggs with bacon vs. without bacon on Sundays on which their teams won.

They play the games for a reason, stats can not predict accurately who will win and who will lose.

Stats are fine in most cases but to use obscure stats in every f***ing post just to try to bait people into arguments if they don't agree is f***ing boring.

On that note, please discontinue conversing with me.

He threw 197 innings in 2009 between MLB and AAA.

Sorry he had a stress fracture. And he had a 3.64 ERA coming into this season. That's very good for a young kid in the AL East. The beginning of this year was clearly bad due to the rust.

He gives up a couple bitch hits and a fly ball that the CF should catch and he goes from 6-7, 3 ER to 5-6, 5 ER. Just the way the game goes, but I wouldn't say he's somehow the same pitcher that he was back before this recent string of excellent starts.

Sooo....

You clearly don't understand stats.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if Pedroia took the initiative to do that on his own or if Bobby V made that call. With Pedroia already hitting a double today, that is the last thing I would have expected. The runner was in scoring position with no outs. They did get the job done, but I feel like Pedroia should have swung away there, but I can't complain with us having the lead.

He WAS great for one full season. The rest of the time he has not shown us much more than potential.

No. like I said, I don't give a s***. I love baseball. you love stats. So be it.

Now f*** off.

Everyone just chill. Buchholz has been horrible in some games this season and in others he has shown signs of greatness. Either way it is not worth arguing over. Let's just all hope that in his next outing he can pitch like he has in the previous few starts he has had, minus today.

You can't throw out this year any more than I can throw out 2010. They all count.

I'm getting tired of arguing this but you can't just keep making stuff up.

He had a 3.48 ERA last year. The stress fracture sucked, but it's not like he didn't show us anything. And in his last 12 starts before hitting the DL he had a 2.97 ERA and was 6-1.

If you want to argue that he's not able to stay healthy, fine. But to say he doesn't perform when he does pitch is simply not true.

I think it came from V. He is very hard to figure I think. Seems to like to zig when you expect him to zag. I actually don't mind him playing to get a lead at home since they get the last bats.

What is a bit odd is that the runner was already in scoring position with less than two outs. Maybe V just does not quite trust Pedey totally yet since the thumb injury.

I can get behind that.

Stop baiting him with those boring stats! Numbers are hard!

I don't think it was a good tactic no matter who decided to do it. But like you, I'll take the run.

So what your saying is that you don't care about stats, just who wins and who loses?

You do realize that Buchholz is 7-2, right?

I think Pedroia bunted on his own, tried to push the bunt up the line and make Buehrle field it. Just didn't get it far enough up the lne, but if he does, Buehrle has to make a good play to field it, spin, and throw as a LHP.

But what do I know, all I do is read stats.
