If anyone is interested' date=' RedSox.com has 17 Green Monster seats available for tomorrow nights game at face value.[/quote']

I retract my previous statement about finding a bridge. This would be better

During the offseason I was pretty critical but with little hopes though. Right now' date=' those little hopes are gone. This is becoming embarrassing. I simply do not see how we could turn around. I simply do not. It's a shame SFF.[/quote']

yep i had the exact same feeling, little hopes but still believed there was something that could pull the team together. now there is nothing left. hopes crushed. :(

Some of us here who thought we were being realistic about the team's prospects were derisively called pessimists. I'm not aiming this at anyone as an I told you so. I understand optimistic sentiments before a season starts. I have been there many times. Also' date=' I'm not engaging in any back patting. I couldn't engage in back-patting even if wanted to do so. Despite my disagreement with the off season moves, I always felt that this was a talented squad that would be competitive for most of the season. I did fear that it was likely the team's pitching would get stressed to the breaking point and eventually break as the season wore on. I never envisioned such ineptitude and dullness from the very start. None of the so-called pessimists here were pessimistic enough. This is complete failure.[/quote']

Couldn't put it better myself. I expected the team to be somewhere between competitive and good. They would have needed everything to fall just right to hang with teams like TX but I thought they would be 2nd tier.

Instead they have been so absolutely pathetic that I have nothing to be optimistic about except for the remaining large number of games. The SPs have picked up where 2011 left off as if they are punishing the team. They couldn't be worse if they tried.

The biggest disappointment is Lester. He was supposed to be the stopper.

I have no idea how to fix the club right now.

It would really be nice to have a stopper - a true ace- like a halladay, Cain, Verland or Sabathia. It would be nice to have a lot of confidence once every 5 days.

I said the same thing to a friend of mine yesterday. Most people thought Lester could play that role, but I've come to believe that on a really good team he would be best suited as a #2 or better #3.

Most of the offseason discussion was focused on getting a #5 and OF. I didn't imagine that the top of the rotation would be the most pathetic part of the team. I was wrong.

The only ace like pitchers on the market this season were Darvish and Wilson. Neither would have slotted ideally into this rotation the way a true ace would have.

When the season started, it looked like we had a #1 (Lester), a #2 (Beckett), and #3 (Buchholz), with question marks at 4 and 5. Today, we have 2 #3's (Lester and Beckett), and 3 #4's (Buchholz, Bard, and Doubront). Buchholz may actually be a mop-up guy at this stage, but they'll never admit it.

We absolutely need a #1, nearly every great team in the past has had one.

Well I would agree we need a 1. However we don't have a great team to begin with. Where do you want to begin?

This is a team full of selfish self-centered *******s surrounded by a precious few solid team players, some of them young guys that are cost controlled, some of them role players and a few of them that are actually making a good deal of money but still have the heart and the love of the game to play hard.

Bard has the best FIP of this team. If the team actually gave him Buchholz runs support, and good defense and fielding, he'd be 6-0 with a sub 3 ERA. But they screwed him royally every direction so far.

Bard has not been shelled in any start. Every start he has pitch in the 6th inning or beyond.

I wanted to begin in the offseason by trading Ellsbury for a #1, which was feasible if we tossed in a prospect or 2. That ship has sailed, and Ellsbury's value has plummeted.

Bard hasn't been nearly as good as you're giving him credit for.

Our rotation by ERA+ (100 is league average):

Lester 98

Bard 88

Doubront 84

Beckett 71

Buchholz 47

That is garbage. Only the Twins have a worse rotation, and they're led by the immortal Carl Pavano.

Bard isn't garbage. The team behind him sucks. He gave the Red Sox opportunities to win all his starts. They just s*** the beds behind him.

The rest stunk like a pile cespool under a baked sun.
