They finally did what they should have done when they first got Miller. Stretch only, shorten the arsenal, and his stuff will play out. 97 with movement with that slider will be death on lefties

Yeah I was talking about that this spring. He was ineffective because he couldn't repeat his delivery. Simplify, and all of a sudden he looks very good, especially vs LHP. 4 K's, 1 weak grounder to P in 1.2 IP now.

This is the real problem that I have with pitch count. Granted Bard by pitch count was not overtaxed after the 7th. But he did struggle through the 7th and he looked totally spent in the dugout between innings. In fact when the camera went into the dugout I thought somebody was going to say that he was obviously done for the night. So why would you bring him out for the 8th.

So how much do you want to bet V asked Bard if he could go one more inning and what the f*** is Bard going to say?

And in truth, how tired you are physically has as much to do and sometimes more to do with how much stress you have been under as how hard you have worked physically. Did it not look like Bard had put himself through all sorts of stress throughout this stint?

Puff up his confidence a bit by making him an exclusively lefty specialist or mop up guy and see what happens. If he can continue to throw strikes, then give him another role. You just need to completely forget the possibility of the rotation

I don't care what Eck says...Bard should have never been sent out for the 8th and not because we lost the game. He was spent. If we could see it from living rooms miles away it should not take much to see it from a few feet away.

Cafardo says tonite he just came back from Pawtucket. Iggy is hitting and playing great defense. Lav has looked good defensively and hitting. He says it's time to bring them both up--the Sox need more "youthful energy" that Middlebrooks is providing. He also says Youks could be a Michael Young the rest of the year, playing several positions where needed.

He didn't say anything about the pitching. The bandaids aren't working, Ben.

I didn't see the game but definitely seems like BV is playing the cards wrong. We can't get anything right.

Bard wasn't gassed. He lost focus and just didn't make the pitches in the biggest part of the game. As Schilling has said several times, the difference between winning and losing is the execution of about half a dozen pitches. Bard didn't execute. He lost his focus and kind of choked. Doubront seems to do the same thing when he is trying to wrap up his starts. The two of them need to handle things better in the late innings. They need to grow a pair and keep their stuff together at the end. This is mainly on Bard and the rest is on Albers.

His starters should not be blowing up at less than 100 pitches. They just shouldn't. Bard had plenty left. He just spit the bit.

V has been the straw breaking the camel's back far to often. He is going to break the young pitchers that he has physically and mentally. Sox are stupid for having handed $180M in assets to this jackass. He is terrible and is starting to make Tito look like genius.

So you don't think Bard struggled through the 7th?

Thats true, and I have lost faith in Valentine. He is no better than the Francona. He sucks at in game strategy too.

Still, another loss....YAWWWWWWWWWWWWWN.

He was spent. The pen had last night off and could have won this game. Bard sucks when he is spent. Like I said, I would be keeping a very close eye on him. Valentine didn't. Fire Valentine along with the rest of those losers in the FO.

The arms in the pen are hanging like limp noodles from too much use. Bard's pitch count was low. He was fresh, but he blew it. THe problem is that every time Bard gets in a pressure situation, he blows up. He did it last year in September.
