Source: Josh Beckett OK after throwing

By Gordon Edes

ESPNBoston.com

A Boston Red Sox official confirmed to ESPN Boston that Josh Beckett did indeed throw off a mound at Fenway Park on Monday and all appeared OK with his sprained ankle.

No decision has been made on when he will make his next start (the team likely wants to see how Beckett feels the day after throwing), but manager Terry Francona said Sunday a positive result out of the throwing session would put the Red Sox ace on track to face the Tampa Bay Rays at some point during this weekend's series at Fenway.

Beckett left in the fourth inning of his start at Toronto last Monday after experiencing pain in his ankle on consecutive pitches.

An All-Star for the third time this season, Beckett is 12-5 in 27 starts. His 2.49 ERA is third-lowest in the AL behind Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jered Weaver and Detroit's Justin Verlander.

Josh will only be allowed to throw 80 pitches his next start. :)
That should take us throw the 4th maybe 5th inning. Fat Albers and at least one other pig will have to get us the the 8th inning.

They can't do it anymore. They've been babied so much they can't throw more than 100 pitches.
