I was just in Massachusetts for my 40th reunion. While there, my wife came up from the lobby and said there were a bunch of men down there dressed in old time baseball uniforms. I later ran into a woman in the hallway dressed in a vintage Cincinnati jersey from 1869. I asked her about it, and she said her boyfriend played on a team that travelled around and reenacted that era's baseball. She said they had played a game Friday in Newbury and were headed out to play one (it was Saturday) on Boston Common.

Did anyone on here see them this weekend or ever? Does anyone know anything about the teams in Newbury and/or Boston? I had too much to do while up there but would have loved to have seen them play.

Here is a year-old link to the Cincinnati team's page:

I've seen guys in costume play on George's Island, one of the Habor Islands. Never seen them on the common or anywhere else though.

I wonder how you told the Boston Red Sox apart from the Cincinnati Red Stockings?

That's awesome though, baseball is damn old.

Just if anyone is interested, I live semi-close to London, Ontario, Canada and there is a ball park- Labatt Park, that is the oldest in North America that is still in use. I sincerely believe that it does not get the recognition that it so rightfully deserves. It opened up in 1877.

Thanks
