Boras is a douche for grabbing teams by the balls and squeezing every last cent out of them. honestly' date=' i respect players a little more for signing him as an agent. al it does is turn their eyes into dollar signs. $$$$$$ if you're a great player, you deserve to get paid great. i get that, but boras' clients are always expecting to set the bar as far as being the highest paid at their position. in any sport. what's wrong with taking 5 million less and staying on a team you llove to play for when you're already a frickin MILLIONAIRE! ( that wasn't a jab at jason bay......)[/quote']

Really. I have a lot of respect for what guys like Cliff Lee did, taking less to go where they want to go. Who needs all the money most of these guys are asking for?

i agree. but it's rare for a boras client to take less money. i have respect for guys who take less money, but there are plenty of guys who become free agents and tell teams to open up their checkbook and whoever has the most money wins....

He does his job' date=' doesn't mean he isn't a douche. Tons of guys are douches because of their jobs. This is the ********** that squeezed 50 million for Matsuzaka out of us.[/quote']

and Theo paid it. That's the thing. He is a player's agent. He gets nothing from the big league teams and if he doesnt squeeze every last million out of the owners, then the owners keep it. He is great at his job, douche or not

Jacoby is starting to look like he deserves $20mill a year. So is Dustin Pedroia.

What will we do about them? I think we need to keep those two, hands-down! Fenway ticket prices might be on the rise soon...

No chance Pedroia is every moving. He's the face of the franchise, Boston's Derek Jeter. Ellsbury will move well before Pedroia ever reaches the end of a contract, but I would say that we'll hang on to Ells too. That kind of talent is pretty tough to come by.

Ellsbury hits longest HR of career

July, 22, 2011

By ESPNBoston.com

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Jacoby Ellsbury's home run in the bottom of the third inning tonight against the Mariners at Fenway Park registered a true distance of 449 feet. It is the longest home run of his career, eclipsing his previous long of 436 feet set back on June 30, 2009 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

It was his 16th home run of the season, and his seventh in July.

Holy s***. 449 feet?!? That's a freaking blast!

Of course Pedroia will stay. I sure hope Ellsbury, too. I wonder how much money will be available when re-signing talks come around. Is there anyway to see the Red Sox budget? But also, I don't know WHY either of these players would ever WANT to leave the Red Sox. Maybe they get paid a little less or something but c'mon being on the Red Sox must be awesome -- superb fan base (sold out games constantly!!), kick ass rivalry w/ Yankees, and helluva' chance at WS.
