No sabermetric "genius" would claim a player with 1 bad year of UZR was a bad fielder. But I'm sure many people who half understand sabermetrics would.

Yeah, UZR actually really likes Ellsbury. Every single other year his UZR was excellent ... that's more indicative of his abilities than his 2009 rating.

It's amazing how many people rushed to judgement on Ellsbury considering he was 25 years old in his previous healthy season. I think a lot of people had unrealistic exceptions of him based on his September performance in 2007.
