It's not our offense that i'm frustrated with, although they've squandered an unbelievable amount of opportunities, it's our pitching.

 

Aceves walks 5 straight with 2 outs, scoring 2 runs. We lose by 1.

 

Lackey walks a run in, hits a guy to push a run across, and throws a wild pitch. That's 3 runs that they shouldn't have right now. If Cam doesn't get picked off at 1st, it's tied 2-2.

 

This team can't f***ing hit. And we've given away 5 freaking runs via walk, HBP, or wild pitch in 2 games.

NY won the series against CIN and TB did the same against the Brewers in their parks, and we are about to lose against SD in Fenway??? hehehe and btw the AL Lead, incredible! it's amazing how this team struggles against under .500 teams... and guess what, PTT and HOU are coming.

Reading thia thread it seems to me everyone hates the offense lol. We're beating ourselves again with bad pitching and dumb moves but whatever it happens. We win some we lose some. 2 losses in a row really isn't that bad. I mean I know the Yankees are winning but who cares we're in June. I can understand if we went through a Marlins slump(11 losses in a row) but we're not doing that bad. Once we stop giving up runs and get hits when we have people on base we'll be fine.

Once we stop trotting Lackey out there every 5th day, we'll be fine. I'd rather see Beckett - Lester - Buchholz - Miller - Wakefield than to have Lackey within sniffing distance of our starting rotation. He needs to be our long man in the bullpen. $15mm mop up duty? Whatever, who cares. The payroll has been paid. Now make the team the best you can, and sending Lackey to the mound every 5th day is not the answer.

Lots of free runs this series not just the Padres but the Sox as well. The first game of the series in the 7th inning we got at least 3-4 runs given to us. Sucks to lose a series to a team that is so weak offensively and we have a high powered offense. We have tomorrow off hopefully things come back to them. Last time we had a day off the results weren't so good but then again we had to face the Rays, this time we get to face the Pirates.

The two losses are no big deal..yes, they were to the Pads, perhaps the worst team in baseball...the bigger issue is that our starting pitching is getting squeezed...of the five initial starters, Dice-K is done (probably forever), Buch's back is troublesome (with time will be OK), Beckett has a stomach thing (short-term) BUT, more importantly, Lackey should NEVER sniff a starting assignment again....he is a whiner, a quitter and has absolutely no guts! A waste of money and a waste of skin.....
