Where did this guy come from? 54 Homers last year and his numbers this year are absolutely silly. He'd be running away with the triple crown if he had a better offense around him

He's leading the league in homeruns right now and his OPS is an absurd 1.315, more than .200 points higher than anyone in baseball.

Where the hell did this guy come from exactly last year?

He obviously isn't going to keep those numbers up the whole year (especially that Ted Williams-like OBP), but he has a serious chance of being the MVP.

He hit an opposite field HR on Saturday.

Hmm, I just remember a graphic last year of all of his HR's and all but 2-3 of them were pulled to straight left, and the other 2-3 were hit towards Left/Center or straight Center. We all know he has the power to go the other way, I just didn't think he had the swing.

It's a flukey hot streak, but his power hitting is legit. He's going to cool off, he might even probably hit like .200 for a month, but I think his power hitting is legit, and I don't know if he's juicing. It sounds like there's a pretty good explanation for why he hit so many bombs last season not involving roids. I'd like to think there were still some awesome power hitters that aren't juicing during my lifetime, like Ryan Howard and Albert Pujols. I realize some of these guys could be juicing, but until they're busted, I'll just say they're bad ass hitters.

I agree, it depends on what people mean by "the real deal", I think his power will continue and stay relatively consistent throughout the season, and that he'll end up with a high OPS, SLG, and HR/RBI total (maybe not RBI since he isn't on a good team) but I highly doubt that his AVG and OBP will stay where they are now.

Although if more teams recognise his power and intentionally walk him like they should have been doing for a while, then his OBP might stay around the same. Jose Bautista is clearly the real deal and is clearly a good player now, but I don't think his numbers will be AS good by the end of the season.

This guy makes me clinch my butt cheeks when he's at the plate. He developed a new swing (That asian leg kick) last years off-season and has been raking ever since. This is his 2nd straight year tearing up the league..thats not a fluke.

Bautista either really figured things out when he got to the Blue Jays, or he's on steroids.

Through the minors and DWL he was always a gap-to-gap hitter with fantastic plate discipline who could, however, be beat with both soft stuff outside or hard stuff up-inside since he was a dead pull hitter without great power, now all of sudden, those balls that were flyouts or sometimes lineouts (due to his average power) are banging the wall or leaving the yard. Something really fishy there.
