The goat of the game still Lester. He sucked last night. We lose when our SP fail to give us a quality outing.

And then we let Drabek hung around to the 5th inning. We let too many bad pitchers off the rope this year.

2 ER in his 18 IP since opening day. TWO.

A guy ran into a FB last night. That's baseball.

I'm not saying he stinks or anything like that. He is a premier power arm, but that doesn't change the fact that he has failed on a number of occasions in the early part of the season. I think that will change, but last night he gets a big part of the blame.

Well it's nice to see some positive attitude towards the Sox on the board. I thought the whining would reach the heavens (even though there is some whining).

Oh, and Lowrie sucks. ;)

Lester was the goat' date=' although Albers walking Davis then letting him get 2 ridiculous jumps didn't help.[/quote']

I guess we didn't watch the same game.

The game that I watched saw Davis single on a ground ball up the middle.

By the way. Who is this Dipre guy?

Yeah who is this Dipre guy?
I don't know, but both he and Spud have been scarce around here since they met Heidi Watney while shopping. Any connection?

Unfortunately' date=' he let this guy run into a fastball when the game was on the line and he had no margin for error. He didn't get it done. He's 0-3 in the early season and he cost us last night's game even though he didn't get the L. He's not getting it done. You can call it be unlucky if you want, but I don't buy that.[/quote']

He's mostly in the game when it is on the line and there is no margin for error. He leads the team in Leverage Index when entering the game (LI - a measure of how much the game is "on the line"). Therefore, when he gives up a run, it's going to feel like a big one. He's not going to never give up runs. So, when he does, it's likely to have a big impact. Whether or not you overreact is up to you.

And, FTR, he didn't "let" Cooper run into one. Pitchf/x has the pitch at 98 mph, with 5 inches of arm-side run, on the inner 3rd of the plate between the belt and knees. Not a bad pitch, but, again, sometimes those get hit. That's baseball.

His innings are almost always meaningful, but the game is not always tied or a 1 run lead. A solo HR with a 2 run lead obviously would not be as big of a deal. Last night, he had no cushion. He has come up short 4 times in the in the first 5 weeks of the season. I'm sure that he is not happy with that.

It's the easiest place for them to drop the bat head on a heater, but that's just me.

Low/in is the LH sweetspot, but I wouldn't call that pitch "down". It was closer to the belt than the knees. Pitchf/x has it just above the mid-point of the vertical zone, and it was running in on him at 98 mph. That's a tough pitch to hit, but the kid hit it.
