The gods of mojo have spoken. Some people aren't listening. They have ignored the warnings. Their hubris requires a sacrafice. That other "thread", the one that insults the mighty and all powerful gods of mojo, must be striken down. It must be smoted. I call upon the shaman of Talksox to vanquish that thread to nether regions of the interwebs. Slay the lamb to appease the gods.

We've seen the first full cycle of the rotation with good performances from the SP. Time for Beckett to set the bar just a little higher. Baby steps. Do it for Bob and Dr Marvin.

Win.

You are allowed to, but winning streaks are observed here. Following a win, the next gamethread is made by the same person. Following a loss, it's open season.

Stupid jopete. I have a good feeling about tonight. I just do.

I'm not too worried about this game, with the way Beckett has pitched like an ace, and how much success we had against the Angels last year (won first 8 games out of 9).

Let's go Sox!

As eloquently stated by Terry Francona himself: "You score first and then the next time you score, you add on. It's such a good way to play the game."

Now let's score first and add the f*** on. Win!

I never knew that, luckily I only made 1 game thread last year.

Holy s*** we are facing a RHP. I was beginning to think we were the only team that had them!

My hypothesis tonight: Redsox peeing in the Angels butt (7-1)

Beckett vs. Chatwood tonight.

Beckett (2-1, 1.80 ERA) vs. Chatwood (1-1, 3.75 ERA.)

Chatwood has the flattest fastball in the league. Its going to be a blood bath.

Tyler Chatwood? Sounds like a white guy from the Larchmont Yacht Club.

Who would you rather have?

Past 3 year's stats:

Player A:

Games Played: 386 (missed 1/2 of a season due to injury)

OPS+: 118

UZR: 15.9

WAR 14.9

Player B:

Games Played: 480

OPS+: 117

UZR: -14.6 (that is negative 14.6, to be clear)

WAR: 11.0

For the record, WAR is a stat that is generated using UZR as a reference. UZR increases with each game played at a certain level of defense. Player A missed 1/2 of a season, thus both UZR and WAR were both negatively affected.

So, do you want Player A or Player B?

DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!

But seriously. All I hear from my Yankee fan friends is how good of defense Cano brings. He's only had a positive UZR one time in his career, 2007. It's ridiculous.

Pedroia > Cano.

Judge Smails would approve his membership application at Bushwood CC.

Tyler Chatwood: .200 BABIP, 92.6% LOB%, 4.50 K/9, 4.50 BB/9, 3.75 ERA.

How is it possible to strand 92.6% of the runners you put on, allow a batting average on balls in play of a mere .200, and STILL have a 3.75 ERA??

Oh. 2.25 HR/9.

Oh. 20% HR/FB rate.

Sox hit 4 bombs tonight. Chatwood doesn't sniff the 6th.

He's made two starts. None of those stats are particlarly meaningful at this point.

Bottom line, we don't know what to expect.
