Navarro in the OF? Interesting. Anyone have an opinion of whether or not he has the skills to be one of those ultimate utility guys who can play pretty much anything?

With his bad I'd love to give him the chance to try. Guy who can play SS can usually hack it in corner OF, if he can add CF to that, then we have a really useful player here.

I can't think what Navarro would have to do more than he's doing with the stick. It all comes down to what you can expect out of his glove. If it's solid, then he's just waiting for a space.

Middlebrooks hit #5 last night, going 3/4, pushing his season line up to .336/.370/.575, which is a good start to follow up on the improvement he showed last year (even though he faded down the stretch). However, his 26/6 K/BB ratio in only 29 games is something to watch.

Brentz went 4/6 with a SB, pushing his line up to .393/.448/.679. He too needs to work on selectivity and a propensity to whiff (29/12 K/BB in 33 games).

Do not f*** around with Bryce Brentz. #9 tonight, with a BB and no K's. Straight raking.

After a day off last night, Brentz with #10 today (1/4, HR, BB - no K's).

Nothing left for him in low-A.

Ryan Lavarnway got off to a real bad start, but he's picked it up of late. In AA, he's got a respectable line of .281/.358/.500. Only 3 doubles, but he also has 12 HRs.

Daamn' date=' that was fast. He was promoted pretty late last year, wasn't he? Catcher of the future?[/quote']

I think he's like Mike Napoli, can hit a little but can't catch fulltime.

He started catching late in his career, so I wouldn't be surprised if his skills improved. That's apparently an area he's working really hard on.

Head continues scalding the ball. 15th HR.

Head is only 20 yrs old his path to the sox is blocked for at least the next 7 and probably another r5 years by A-GON.SEEMS LIKE IN A FEW YEARS HE WILL BE TRADE BAIT unless he learns another position.

I still can`t understand why IGLESIASis still at AAA.ITS LAUGHABLE HOW OVERMATCED HE IS AT THAT LEVEL.It appears he is nothing but a weak singles hitter at best.He should be down at LOW A BALL SO THAT HE CAN BUILD SOME CONFIDENCE .DON`T CARE HOW GREAT HIS GLOVE IS .THERE IS NO ROOM fOR A BAT THAT TERRIBLE FOR The SOX. He is only 21 so there is a lot of time on his side. For now he is a waste at AAA ball.

I agree. Demoting him and letting him get a groove against AA pitching might be the right move to shake him out of his slump.

Hence why I am unsure he is the sox future at SS. He's never been considered a hitter of any sorts. He's a defense first player at an important IF position, but with no bat to speak of, he'll quickly become a liability in your lineup when facing the AL East

Alex Hassan is quietly having a good year. RHH OF with some pop and excellent approach at the plate.

Not only that, the kid has a .443 OBP. I'd say it is time to pull him up to AAA.

Might Yamaico Navarro actually become a better shortstop than Jose Iglesias? The former was barely noticed when he signed and the later was dubbed the second coming of Ozzie Smith, but you wouldn't know it based on their results in the minors. Navarro isn't a highly heralded defensive player but he seems to suffer from Cano syndrome - all the raw talent in the world but he suffers lapses in effort and intelligent play at times.
