How many members, and is it auction, or straight up draft? I'd probably go Tex before Crawford, but I generally avoid early round outfielders if I can. It also depends on what other positions have a lot of keepers. Hanley is a keeper, no matter what, and the other two are pretty solid picks too.

Any reason Tex over Crawford? I know Tex has a slow start to the season but Crawford is a 5 tool player.

8 teams. I have the 5th pick.

I think that OF is a lot deeper position than 1B, especially an elite 1B like Teixeira.

In addition, if your fantasy team has OF, OF, OF instead of LF/CF/RF, then that's an even greater reason to keep Teixeira. If your fantasy team has LF/CF/RF, then I'd keep Crawford.

Thanks for your advice. My league is 3 OF. Let my commish know that I might switch keepers.

For the record, if you don't have a deadline yet, I'd wait until a few people share their opinions on the matter before you ask the commissioner to switch keepers. While I like my opinion, some other people might think differently, and you might want to let them have a shot at explaining their opinion if it happens to differ from mine.

Does anyone have a particular strategy for nonstandard leagues? My friend decided to start an unbalanced 15 category autodraft league, and my pre-draft rankings are a mess. Hits AND average, Wins AND Losses, 8 hitting categories to 7 pitching categories.

I'm tempted to lower my priorities on pitching, but I know there are managers in the league who will just keep the yahoo's ranking system, and will pick up all the elite talent if I draft too low. It also makes me consider going crazy low on the .300 hitting catchers, and aces from good hitting teams, but I'm really just winging it at this point.

So here's a question. I'm in the semi-finals of my primary league, and I snagged Strasburg off waivers. Its a 2SP/2RP/3P eight man league. My pitching staff is Weaver/Kershaw/Price/Beckett/Cueto, but she has Verlander/Sabathia/Hamels so the pitching will be very tight. Should I start Strasburg?

It depends on the opponent, but he will definitely get you good K numbers. Keep in mind that as an injury risk (and playing for a crappy team late in the season) he won't get as much playing time deep in games, so he'll probably have a lower pitch count limit than a playoff caliber team. Not to mention that with 40 man rosters, there will be plenty of relievers. So if IP or Wins are categories or if there are start limits (to prevent streaming) then I wouldn't use Strasburg. But if streaming is allowed (and losses aren't a category) then I don't see a reason not to start Strasburg (other than facing a good offense)

I hope I didn't confuse you, I have a lot of thoughts at once.
