So the so called deadline has passed and he has not signed. ZWhere does everyone think he will end up. Of course I would love to see him and Agon rotating at 1B/DH and have them sitting 3-4 in the lineup(probably the best 3-4 combo ever lol). But my guess is he is a National this time next year.

I don't care, I'd find a spot for him. It can't be that hard. Heck I'd play Youk at catcher if it meant Pujols in the lineup. No matter where you could possibly put him, his defense is made up for by that bat.

Why bother when you can just sign him in the offseason?

I'd certainly send Kalish, Lin, Pimenetel/Britton to STL for him though. That kinda deal should at least display good faith and get a conversation started.

I know its illogical' date=' but I think an A-gon for Pujols deal is completely possible.[/quote']

Albert's agent said that if the Cards try to trade him during the season he would exercise his no trade rights. Whether or not he sticks to that is yet to be seen I suppose, but I can't see the Cardinals trying to trade him.

I think (and hope) that when all is said and done he'll remain in St. Louis. I know the Cubs are a fit but for some reason I can't really see him slapping the Cardinals fans in the face and going to the Cubbies. I agree with RSFFL that the Brewers should be included in the poll because he would be a great fit there if Prince leaves. I'm not really sure whether or not they have the resources to sign him, but on the field it's definitely a great fit. Aside from the Cardinals I think Washington is the most likely destination. I also think he would be a terrific fit in Baltimore, but thankfully for those of us who root for teams in the AL East MacPhail has said publicly that he doesn't see it as realistic for the O's to devote that much salary to one player. Hopefully they stick to that stance and Angelos doesn't get involved and throw the bank at him. In years past he's happily thrown money at stars, but we haven't seen that in years, and never at the cost that it would take to sign Albert. All indications at this point are that Baltimore will not be involved. I think it'll be interesting to see if Arte and the Angels get involved, especially if they fail to make the playoffs again this year, because they could really make things interesting in this whole scenario. Now as a Yankee fan this might shock some of you, but I truly hope that neither the Yankees or Red Sox sign him, because that would just be disgustingly excessive for either team, especially with no real spot to put him (obviously if you get a player of Albert's caliber you MAKE room for him, but it won't be an easy task for either team). With that being said, don't hold it against me if by chance Posada decides to retire after the season (which I think is more likely than some people might think) and the Yankees throw the bank at him and I get excited over the signing. When we're blinded by the star-light and dollar signs we have a tendency to throw rational thinking out the window (to some degree) and rejoice over such signings. But I honestly feel that it would be best for everyone involved if he signs with, and retires a Cardinal. He means so much to that organization, it would be like Jeter leaving the Yanks (maybe worse). We'll see what happens, but I honestly think Mozeliak gets it done.

Assuming the Yankees pick up Pujols(lord please please please don't let this happen) where does Tex play? Do they leave him at first and Pujols DH?

I think if by some chance he ends up here you have to leave Tex at first. Pujols is a plus-defender at first, but Tex is better. You could DH Albert, or rotate him around a little from DH to first (when Tex needs a day here and there) and left field, especially against lefties considering the struggles that Gardner and Granderson have against southpaws. I wouldn't commit to him as a permanent DH though with the eventual need to have that position available for other aging stars such as Jeter and A-Rod. But like I said you could play him in left against lefties, DH him occasionally, he could possibly play third when Alex DH's (he came up as a shortstop/third baseman I believe), and so on. Either way, when you have a player like Pujols you make it work somehow.

My list of potentials....

1. Cubs

2. Mets (if Trump buys share of team)

3. Nationals

4. Cards (if they don't sign him prior to Nov 15)

5. Yankees (if they miss the playoffs)

3 times a charm? :D

I also think the Yankees are much more likely to go for Fielder. Half the cost, and almost the same value.

Edit: I mean, if they're both DHs... they're both two elite sluggers. Pujols is obviously in his own league.

Fielder cannot come off of 1B and I am sure he wouldnt sign with a team to be a DH. Pujols came up as a 3b, filled in adequately in LF for the Cards before a need came about for him to move to 1b. He is athletic enough to make it work. Fielder is a blob

I disagree. When has cost really ever prohibited the Yankees from doing something. And I don't think he's even near the player Albert is. Besides, the only place you could play Prince is first or DH, and for the reasons I mentioned a few posts ago that just really wouldn't work well without hurting the team long-term. Cost isn't an issue, if the Yankees do decide to get involved with a premier free agent position player in the offseason Pujols would be the best choice.

LF say whattt?

Why not? He played left early in his Major League career, I'm sure he's athletic enough to still play the outfield, and he's obviously an offensive upgrade over Gardner.

Based on the way the Sox do business' date=' they're not going to spend 70 million dollars a year for 3 gold glove 1B.[/quote']

This despite the fact that one of them plays a very competent third, two have played first, third and left, and the DH spot is potentially coming open at the end of the year?

My bad I didn't want my post to make it seem like it wasn't a possibility because it definetely is. I just wasn't expecting him to play that position. Then again, why in the world would you pay 30+ Mil a season for a DH.

Can you imagine if the Tigers signed Pujols? V-Mart, Cabrera and Pujols.

V-Mart catches everyday, Cabrera to DH and bam. That would be pretty nasty having those three together. I don't see hin going there but if he did that would be killer.

Cardinals weren't very smart to sign Matt Holliday to 7/120 if Pujols walks.

Why? They would have a young elite bat to build around. If anything, Holliday provides some insurance.
