Great, great pitcher. Could have been even better had he not missed some of what would have been some of his better years from the war. Also, from what I remember reading, he sustained lots of injuries after his return. They say he threw 100 mph, which may not be true, but it's still impressive to think that he probably was in a league of his own in terms of fastball velocity back in the day.

His fastball was once timed as high as 105 miles an hour with the primitive measuring devices of his era.

Bob Feller was a great American. He was also a very gifted ballplayer. Thank you for all your on and off the field accomplishments Bob.

Exactly BSN. Great baseball player, but a fantastic American. Excelled at everything he did. Was most proud of serving our country, even though he was a very famous and excellent ball player. Godspeed.

I was named after Bob and am so proud to have been. I had the good fortune to see Bob pitch his 3rd no-hitter and and his 12th and last one-hitter. Bob not only was a great, great pitcher but a true American hero spending almost 4 years in the Navy in World War ll.

This is a very sad day for me but I take great comfort that he is now with our Lord.

Do you realize Feller won 25 in 1941 and 26 in his first full year back in 1945. Many baseball experts figured 100 more wins and 1000 Ks.

In that video Fellar's fastball is clocked using army ordinance equipment that was used to measure artillery shell velocity. His fastball was measured as 98.6 mph

 

The speed of 98.6 mph was measured at the plate while speed is now measured at 50 feet from the plate so adjusted speed is 107.6 mph
