My D against his offense

While Phil Rivers to his receivers and Vernon Davis is a solid threat, I have an elite pass rush with Cole, Mathews, and Orapko coming off the edge, and DRC and Porter should be able to limit passes effectively. In addition, I have two elite safeties in Atogwe and Branch to limit the passing game as well. His running backs are solid as well, but my linebackers are all stacked, from outside to the middle, and they should effectively limit the run, Posluszny is having a monster year so far. Also, his O-Line really isn't too good, so his pass protection and blocking will be a problem for him.

My offense vs his D

I have one of the best O-lines in the league, and he has no formidable D ends or outside linebackers to really challenge that, Kyle Orton is going to have light years to throw in the pocket, and Brandon Lloyd, Sidney Rice, and Malcom Floyd are all fast targets that put up a lot of YPR, and Orton is developing into one of the better quarterbacks in the league. My receivers will also have great chemistry with him, as Lloyd and Jaffney are his #1 and #2 receivers. I also have the best running combo in the league with AD and Arian Foster, and I don't think his line and linebackers can handle it, Fletcher is the only formidable force there. As far as his coverage, Finnegan will probably try to get into a fight every game and might be able to cover Rice effectively, but Brown will be hopeless on Lloyd. I also probably have the best FB in the league and Vince Young is a great scrambler, making my rushing essentially unstoppable against his D

Special Teams

Carpenter has arguably been the best kicker in the league this season, but kickers often don't transition from year to year. This matchup is basically a wash

I like yrtb here. RSFFL's defense is very shaky, and I expect yrtb to have no trouble moving the ball up and down the field. He should be able to dominate the point of attack, and run the ball at will. I'm not a big Kyle Orton fan, but RSFFL's defense will be forced to commit so many defenders to stopping the running game, that yrtb should be able to have some success with play fakes against RSFFL's secondary.

yrtb is playing Trent Cole out of position, which could throw a wrench into what seems like a very talented pass rush, but I think he'll get enough pressure on Rivers and his secondary will play well enough to get stops.

yrtb

Huge mismatches in the trenches seal the deal for this match up. yrtb has a very good OL that will dominate the old and trending downward DL and LB that RSFFL will run out there.

I think RSSFL's offense has some big play ability but I just don't see that old OL giving Rivers enough time to make things happen.

I gotta pick Ytrb on this one. While I'm not as high on some of his offensive players, I do feel that his defense is very good. He also has a very good offensive line. The main point in my decision is Ytrb's defense vs. RSFFL's offense. I do think that Rivers is a good QB (although definitely not worth the #1 pick), and he has some good role players, but I don't see RSFFL scoring too many points off of Ytrb's defense, which he'll need every point he can get because his defense is going to give up a lot of rushing yards with Peterson/Foster and Ytrb's line. I do agree with Y228 that Cole is out of position, and that seems to be a factor for A LOT OF TEAMS, but I don't think that it'll be a deciding factor here, so I'd have to go with ytrb.

I think that the Special Teams is a wash at this point, but I think that it would play a bigger factor in later rounds.

Trent Cole is out of position? I thought he played DE

He would really struggle playing DE in a 3-4, to the point where he might be completely ineffective in my opinion.

Yeah' date=' that was a mistake which I didn't realize would hurt my team that much[/quote']

Maybe it won't in the eyes of some people (ones who just see talent and not scheme), but the majority of front seven players are married to a specific scheme and taking them out of that scheme may very well hinder their performance.

EDIT: But you have a lot of talent on that defense yrtb, and in the later rounds, there are always schemes you can come up with that can better utilize your personnel. That's my recommendation moving forward.

Some players are even married to their part of a scheme (ie left defense end vs. right defensive end etc) but I'm probably one of the only ones that got THAT picky when picking my players.

And in addition, it matters with some positions over others. I think it's a big deal to match your D-line and LBS to your scheme, but I wouldn't worry about it with one's secondary. I don't think it's a huge deal for this round, but it may present itself as a factor in later rounds.

I vote for yrtb, his defense would be able to shut down RSFFL's offense, and RSFFL's defense wouldn't be able to stop yrtb's rushing game.

While I really don't like YRTB's offense, his defense is one of the best here. He's got playmakers at all the positions he needs them, and his secondary is really underrated.

Yrtb's defense is phenomenal. Top 5 unit and I think his offensive line will give Orton enough time to someone serious damage against RSFFL's D. Lucky for him, he drafted McCarthy has his HC who is as allergic to running as McDaniels was.

How would I switch up my scheme if I only have 2 DE and 1 DT? I never drafted an extra DT...so I can't move into a 4-3

You're definitely hamstrung, but there are a few different things you can do schematically, with the same personnel, that would probably make your defense more effective against better offenses. I'm not trying to be an ******* by being vague about this, but I don't think it would be fair to start giving advice at this stage of the process.
