He was only 76?

He looked old to me when the Tigers won the World Series back in 1984.

He looked old in the '70's and he was only in his 30's. He had that prematurely white hair. 76 isn't that old (at least not to me and Spud), but he must have had the dementia for some time. That's a shame. Dementia is an end that robs you of your dignity. RIP Sparky.

Yeah' date=' definitely a shame that he had dementia. To me, that's more cause for alarm than his actual death.[/quote']

I know exactly how his family felt. I've lost two family members to Alzheimer's, am currently losing two more to it, and just lost my mom to central nervous system lymphoma. The tumors on my mom's brain were really affecting her memory. The day before she went into the hospital, my dad took her car keys away because he didn't want her getting lost. Dad told me that, when he told Mom he was going to take her car keys from her, that she said "okay" and left it. That was not my mom. She would've pitched a fit.

One of the relatives I'm losing right now is my Aunt Miriam. The last time I was up to see her, she didn't recognize me. It hurt to see her like that. She doesn't remember that she was my Confirmation sponsor for crying out loud.

My grandma used to call, talk for an hour, and when we got off the phone, she would call right back and just start the conversation up like she did an hour earlier, like we never talked. She's still living, and we still talk, but she's in assisted living. She's 85 years old.

I remember 1975.

Anderson was is one of my two favorite Managers of all time (by that I mean as long as I've been watching the game).

76 is kind of young to go. I hope all you folks have a close relationship with your parents and appreciate all they have brought to your world.

Spud, the first time we call one of our kids by the wrong name they will be looking for the cheapest nursing home they can find.

One thing that I really liked about Sparky was how he wasn't the least bit reluctant to puit down Fat Ass Thurmon Munson after the '76 Series. They asked him to compare Bench and Munson, and Sparky answered that it would be unfair to anyone to compare them to Bench. That was the truth too. I loved Pudge, but Bench was on the top shelf all by himself.
