Deion Branch to the Patriots for a 4th round pick. Considering Moss got them a 3rd, this seems very very high.

So... essentially, they traded a 4th and 7th round pick to upgrade from Moss to Branch?

Dont look at it that way.

Look at it as Maroney for Branch (same draft pick).

They would have got nothing from Maroney all year. Lets see what Branch gets us.

Isn't this the guy who shot his way out of town back in '06? I bet he's loving this trade.

yes, monetary dispute when he was a FA.

The talent level on our team may have been lowered, but as we all saw in 2001, talent doesn't matter. We're a better team today with Branch than 2 weeks ago with Moss. The fact that we bullied the Ravens, one of the toughest teams, especially in the third quarter shows how large getting rid of Moss was. Even though Moss really would have no effect on that in the game, getting rid of Moss changed the culture of the team.

We're better with Branch than Moss.

The doubters can eat it. That was a great team they just put up a great game against. Especially considering the trade pretty much meant they rewrote their playbook and were testing their theory of how best to play Moss-free football on the fly.

That was a top quality game by BB too. The 4th quarter adjustment and Brady once again rising to the occasion to tie that game and get into FG range FTW were both freaking huge. So many shadows of 2001 on this team right now -- and so many more winning players on this team than Randy Moss.

And it looks like we're back to old Patriots football just like I'd hoped -- need more games to see but I loved the offensive creativity with the tight ends, we got some good running today, and what a huge play by Chung to force a FG and keep the game winnable. Welker's gonna draw some coverage for awhile, it'll be up to the youngsters to give him room to play by playing well themselves, but this Patriots team suddenly looks pretty familiar to me and even with the roughness in the middle quarters I liked what I saw of the team coming together -- again, against a danged good team -- a major Superbowl contender IMHO -- and the one that knocked them out with Moss on the roster last year too. That was a statement worth making.

This is exactly the right balance of Patriots to have. Talented, proven veterans--real leaders. Raw yet hungry and versatile youngsters eager to prove themselves. Just steady players across the board, and play calling that appears to be trying to utilize each player for what he can bring to the table week in and week out.

The defense's evolution throughout the course of the game, and stopping the run, was what I found the most exciting and encouraging, in addition to seeing Deion Branch come home again, and what's more, truly relish and savor and appreciate the opportunity as evidenced in his bear hug with Belichick after the game and even moreso during his post-game presser.

We'd better buckle our seatbelts, because this Patriots team is about to take us on one hell of a ride.

Good-bye and good luck, Randy Moss.

Welcome home, Champion. Welcome home Deion.

Branch had 9/98 and a TD, 7/79 in the 4th and OT.

Can we just say I was right, most everyone else was wrong, and move on?

You were right, we all were wrong. Let's move on. :D

LOL Pats. They're so lucky they didn't just lose to the Chargers. Brady looked like crap too. Oh yes, they're just fine without Moss, and Branch is every bit as good.

Brady had his two worst games of the season without Moss. Gee, I wonder why.

Not true. Chargers played poor offense and dropped lots of passes. Had this been last years chargers I think we would have won. Brady did suck ass though.

I don't see how that was lucky. Was it lucky it didn't go passed 10 yds?

i dont know i think onsides kicks are all luck and f*** up on the team the ball is getting kick too,but it was a nice play for sd and helping them trying to make a comeback

I get what you're saying bro. Onside kicks aren't usually recovered by the kicking team. That doesn't mean it's luck though. If anything the luck was Tom Brady being off his game and the Pats not giving us a beating despite all the turnovers etc. No one would argue that.

yea,sd always plays the pats tough i did not expect a ass kicking by new england either ,if you guys would of won i would of not of been surprised at all

i read some where this is the first time in 9 years that brady has not thrown a int against sd

Baltimore's D and the Charger's D, perhaps?

SD is #1 against the pass this year, Baltimore is #9. He had a crummy game with Moss against the Jets who are #12, as well.

Agreed. The strength of schedule should be born in mind. There are tougher teams to play than the Chargers and Ravens, but encountering two solid talented defenses back to back as you're adjusting to a new offensive scheme is still a trial by fire, and so far the Patriots are passing that trial -- by the skin of their teeth, but passing.

So far, he's a 60% passer without Moss, while he was a 70% passer with Moss. He's played two crappy games without Moss, while he played 3 good, 1 crappy game with Moss. I think if 1 game sample size is enough to somehow, and illogically at that, prove that getting rid of Moss was somehow the right move, I think 2 games where Brady played substantially below himself are a proper sample as well.

My argument has substance, the delusional idiots who thought it was the right move after one game where he racked up 300 yards (and a poor completion rate, and 2 picks) argument doesn't really fly. I don't have an irrational hate for the Pats, I even consider them my second-favorite team. However, this BS about Moss-to-Branch being an upgrade is ridiculous.
