Once again the Yankees and Twins meet up in the ALDS, but this time Minnesota has home field advantage. We saw a reversal of the trend in the Red Sox-Angels series last year, hopefully (for most of this board), we will see a similar flip.

i kind of hope pettitte pitches game 2. he's been pretty bad since coming back from his injury

One good start, one awful start, and one decent start (his numbers in his last start are very deceiving). He's by no means a sure thing, but I'd much rather him than Hughes at this point, especially if there's a game five.

When would Pettitte need to go on short rest?

If the Yanks go with CC in games 1 and 4 and whomever is the #2 starter in #2 and #5 if needed. The option needs to be available if we are facing elimination

i'm looking forward to seeing both hughes and pettitte pitch but i just have a gut feeling that pettitte is going to bomb

That wouldn't surprise me at all. At this point, the only pitcher I trust is CC. But with that being said, I still trust Pettitte more than Hughes right now, especially if the series goes five games.

They should pitch Burnett in games 1' date=' 2, and 3. He's awesome. Who agrees?[/quote']

Nah, I think they should alternate games between Burnett and Vazquez.

I had not looked closely at the pitching matchups CD listed until bsox's post. There's absolutely no chance that AJ starts in the first round. CC will come back on short rest in game four, and the game two starter would pitch game five on normal rest.

Also, based on Gardenhire's decisions in the past, I bet he does the same thing, and goes with a three man rotation. However, I'm not nearly as sure about that as I am about what the Yankees will do.

Hmm okay. I thought I had heard Burnett was going, but I'll trust you on this one.

It depends on the situation, IMO. If NY is up 2-1 after 3, then Burnett will probably start with the hopes that CC can be held for game 5 or game 1 of the ALCS. If the Yankees are down 2-1, then Burnett will be a reliever

Burnett got what he wanted to last year. This is just like when he signed that contract with the Jays' date=' all down hill from there.[/quote']

did you follow how he did with that contract?

The First Game is a toss up. CC is 10-5 on the road he also has a higher whip and lower K/9. I think the Yankees will prolly take it but. It matters which CC shows up.
