buchholz and lester both have an era under 3 for the time being. can anyone guess the last time an al team had 2 pitchers who threw at least 150 inning and had an era under 3?

the 2002 red sox were the last al team to have 2 pitchers who threw 150+ pitches with an era under 3. they had 3 pitchers to accomplish that feat - pedro martinez, derek lowe and tim wakefield. they also scored the second most runs in baseball that year and somehow finished 6 games out of the wildcard

I had to treat a MFY fan for dinner tonight here in the East Village who's moving out to Las Vegas next week for good. I'm thinking that my generosity of spirit and my maturity in keeping tonight's plan despite last night's debacle contributed to tonight's fortuitous results, but alas, I can't take credit for everything!

 

Good win tonight by the Sox, and here's hoping the Yanks sweat just a little more tomorrow...and the next night. And if they do, and if the Sox remain victorioius, then this coming weekend is going to be one hell of a showdown.

 

I'll be in Europe from Wednesday through Monday and will thus miss all the festivities. As a result, I'm expecting a total miracle, as that's the kind of s*** luck I tend to have.
