I can only speak for myself, but I view most running backs as a product of their offensive line. Granted, some like AP and CJ make some of their own yards, but a good offensive line can really help an average running back.

EDIT: I think many of us are used to taking running backs early because of fantasy football, but in a draft like this, I don't think that's the best direction to go in.

Whether or not a running back is pivotal to a team doesn't mean that they will be selected as such. For example, even though most people would want to draft an RB late, because other people are drafting one early, means that most fantasy football leagues involve taking a RB within the first two rounds. These drafts are highly reactionary. For example, I changed my first round pick based on who RSFFL took in the first round. And that caused a chain reaction amongst QB's. I doubt that the first round would have looked the same if the first few picks were Chris Johnson, MJDizzle, Fumbles All Day etc...

That's fair, although I can honestly say that, with the exception of my last pick, I haven't really been influenced by what others have done. I was going with a QB in the first or second round, and then I was going to really focus on defense.

But yes, that is a good point.

Robert Geathers, DE

This wasn't my favorite pick on the board, but I felt that since I'll be playing primarily a 3-4 I needed another DE to round out my d-corps. Geathers is good against the run and better against the pass. I love how my defense looks, and I'm waiting on my last DT to make myself a defense that can play very well in a 3-4 and 4-3. I was thinking about a TE but I figured that it could wait a couple more rounds, since all the skill TEs are gone its not worth wasting a pick to me now.

Are you going to pick that last DT as one of your bench players, or in the regular slot? Just wondering if we're allowed to draft four of each without using a bench spot.

That's what I don't get. One would have to use a bench spot on an extra defender unless we add a position to the draft, and in that case, we'd have to add another extra position to the draft in order to make the draft sequence fair (ie an even number of rounds)

In my opinion, unless we can come up with another position to add to the draft, we don't need to have 2 DT's and 2 ILB's. That is, unless you use one of your bench spots on a DT/ILB.

Well, we have 2 DT spots, so I'm assuming that I'm going to take another DT sooner or later.

But you already have 2 ILB's, so unless you are going to use a bench spot on a DT, or unless you don't plan on having a punter or something like that, you wouldn't have a use for another DT.

Right, but I was under the impression that there were two spots for each, not because everyone was going to use all four, but just because TK didn't know whether people were going to use a 4-3 or a 3-4. I'd like to be able to draft another DT without having to use a bench spot, but I think we need some clarification on this from TK/Ital.

I think the idea is that he would like to have sort of a hybrid defense, where he could have the flexibility to switch off between a 3-4 and a 4-3. I'd like to do the same thing, but I don't want to use a bench spot on it.
