I know it's not an official fantasy league, but I was wondering if there was a vote to determine who had the best team. Obviously the teams wouldn't literally face off, but wasn't there a way to discuss who had the best team? If there wasn't, then what was the point in doing it?

That's a decent pool of people but I'd like to try to get a few more in...I'm thinking we can start the drafting at some point this weekend. Like the baseball one, I'll make the draft order and tables and well go from there.

I was thinking that but I also think part of the fun of the MLB one was picking and making the case for younger, less proven players. If most don't want that, we won't have that but I think it's one of the better parts of the exercise.

Agreed, I vote for next 5 years.

I personally vote for a 1 year team. The reason is that not everyone is on the same playing field. For example, we have (using baseball) people like Mariano Rivera, who have all of the numbers in the world, that might not be as valuable as someone like Papelbon, even though Rivera is much better, just because of a simple technicality of this being a 5 year thing.

 

It also makes it more complicated when you pick rookies who haven't had established track records, and I think it makes it much harder to vote on the teams and actually rate who has the best team, considering it'd be over the next 5 years.

 

I like the idea, but I don't think it'll work, especially when you consider how messed up and inaccurate the voting was in the Baseball Redraft League, I don't think that voters will properly assess the nuances of the 5 year teams. I think it'd be easier and more accurate for everyone to do a one year deal, ESPECIALLY in an injury plagued sport such as football. Just my opinion.

I think three years would be perfect. You could take established stars who are in their last few years, or up and coming guys who may make an impact soon. 3 years is a window where it's easier to judge if a guy might have an impact. We do 5 years and people can be picking guys who may not even be past their freshman year in college.
